THE VERDICT:
It was one fine day in Duty Free and after shopping for chocolates, I then found myself checking out MAC’s counter. There was this lady who was having a makeover and I noticed how nice her base was so I had to ask the makeup artist and she told me it was MAC Prolongwear Foundation. End of the story is, I bought one for myself! Let me tell you all about this foundation.
MAC PRO LONGWEAR LIQUID FOUNDATION IN NC42 IN DETAIL
As part of the Pro Longwear collection, MAC said that this product promises to hold up for up to 15 hours in any environmental condition and controls oil, thus it is great for those with combination and oily skin types. It's got SPF 10 to provide daily sun protection.
Ingredients
The bottle comes with this unique, sealable pump: you just it sideways to open and close the pump-that's it!
Swatches and detailed review after the break!
I got NC42, which has always been my shade match in all of MAC’s liquid base products. However, I find this one to be exceptionally orange with literally no yellow undertone to be seen. Texture is very light and pigmentation is medium to heavy-consistency is in between Bobbi Brown’s Skin Foundation and MAC’s Studio Fix Liquid Foundation. It’s very spreadable and gives me a ‘second skin finish’-it’s possibly MAC’s sheerest liquid foundation in my opinion, but still surprisingly gives my skin great coverage.

Whoops! My camera twerked for bit here. :D
Two layers of the foundation
I always use two layers of this foundation to get the coverage I prefer. Look at how beautifully the product has melted into my skin: it looks so fresh despite the semi- matte finish, it conceals enlarged pores, and makes skin texture appear smoother, but without the thick, heavy consistency that most MAC foundations have. If you're looking for a very lightweight foundation from this brand, this is what I would recommend. I also thought that it would look weird on my skin because of the orange of the undertone, but thankfully, the SPF ingredient balanced it out and it didn't look so bad after all.
Sealed with Shu Uemura Translucent Powder
As a MAC user for years, I could say that most of their foundations yield medium to heavy coverage, but this one looks and feels beautifully light so indeed, it's one (if not the only) of the sheerest liquid foundations from the brand. However, I am disappointed with the staying power: After just four hours, the foundation begins to fade and on the 6th or 7th hour, my marks are already peeping through-what happened to the 15- hour staying power claim? MAC Studio Fix liquid foundation has better staying power than this considering that it is more emollient and thicker. I would've loved this foundation because it provides excellent, skin- like coverage, but staying power is a let down. Maybe my skin is just that oily or the formula and my skin don't have any chemistry at all.
I guess this foundation will be better off with dry- skinned gals because it doesn't feel drying on the skin and those with moderately oily and combination oily-normal skin types, and those who live in a cold climate.

I'm not into MAC cosmetics because their products are not that suitable for me. Sometimes, I'll have some red patches or sometimes naman, I don't like the smell. True that it gives me good coverage but that coverage can be attained by other cheaper brands. Maybe my face is not pangmayaman. Haha. Anyway, I'm staying away from too much yellow colored foundation as it really is visible on my face. And the staying power is not that long so I may not try this one. Like you, I like the MAC studio fix foundation more than this
ReplyDeleteThat pump looks really good and the locking mechanism makes the foundie quite portable. I'm surprised that it's sheer since it looks kinda thick.
ReplyDeleteThe shade looks perfectly gorgeous on you!! but it feels bad that it has low staying power... MAC pa naman...
