Woot! Welcome to the review of one of my first Tarte products! OMG! I've been blogging for quite a while now and beauty obsessed even before I was formed in my mummy's tummy (lol), and I have never owned a single Tarte product (well, I had a sample lip gloss, but I don't count it LOL). Tarte's a favorite among makeup lovers because of their high performance, skin care- infused makeup products.

What I have here is one of Tarte's famous foundations from the famous range called Amazonian Clay: Amazonian Clay 12-hr. Full Coverage Foundation. This oil- absorbing foundation proves to be great for oily skin and our weather!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation promises 12-hr., matte wear and flawless finish. Promises to help control oil, smooth skin, protect with SPF 15, and won't cake and settle into fine lines. Formula is vegan, hypoallergenic, dermatologist- tested, has Vitamin A and E, mineral pigments, and Amazonian Clay that helps promote better and longer wear. It comes in 25 shades.

Product comes in a brown plastic tube with a peek-a-boo portion for you to have a glimpse of the product within. The cap is carved from wood, which gave that "oh my product is luxe" feel so you won't really feel that you're duped of $60 because the product came in plastic.

Medium Honey is a warm beige shade with a neutral undertone. I was supposed to get Tan Honey, but it was out of stock (boo hoo!). I noticed that the darker shades are out of stock most of the time and I think it is because there aren't a lot of warm/dark shade options so warm ladies like me have to settle for whatever is there. I hope they will either add more shades or increase the stocks of the darker shades.

Consistency is a soft, whipped cream; reminds me of mousse foundation, but this one's more liquid. It is unscented, pigmentation is pretty good, and texture is smooth and spreads out well.

Bare skin

One layer of the foundation

Medium Honey is half a shade lighter than my skintone; it's like NC40 on me. It's medium to full coverage and applies better with a kabuki brush. I wouldn't advise applying it with a makeup sponge because the foundation's whipped consistency doesn't work with it; tried it and it's like the sponge is just creating holes on the layers every time I dab it on.

Despite the inaccurate shade and the fact that it's not a true full coverage foundation, I love that this product does not oxidize, stays intact, and helps control oil for beyond 6 hours; I wore this for over 6 hours and my T-zone only had minimal oil secretion! I think the amazonian clay extract is doing a really good job at controlling oil. Also, it feels light and doesn't look 'thick' despite its consistency. However, it has a tendency to cling onto dry patches so moisturizer properly before usage.

I'm keeping this foundation because it has very good oil control; I can't really say it's full coverage if I were to compare it with KV Lock It or Fenty, but it does conceal marks decently. This foundation is great for oily skin, combination oily/normal skin, and normal skin types.

10 Lovely Thoughts

  1. Oooh, the oil control looks great. However, I wouldn't consider having this product yet coz it costs too much for a foundation hehehe.

  2. Wow sobrang pricy pala NG Tarte foundation at Ang ganda NG Coverage nito.. gusto ko ding magka foundation Yung ibang nagamit ko na foundation na mumuo San face ko

  3. Tarte blushes are one of the prettiest shade in my stash and they last long too. Their shape tape concealer has a wide range of color (in my opinion)for people with medium shade (wish is a blessing since most Filipinas have in-between shades).

  4. Woah! I want this but its too expensive! 😭

  5. Oh may, I want to try it too, I hope Sephora PH will carry it. Some online sellers ang OA ng price kaya hindi ka gaganahan bumili hahaha, anyways I love the output, ang ganda, pak na pak :)

  6. Kahit na it's a bit lighter than ypur skin tone it still looks great on you!! How i wish i can buy those luxe foundations! Thanks for the review!

  7. The foundation looks good on your skin. I haven't tried any Tarte products because it is very pricey for me. But I would love to have their concealer or any of their palettes. Their packaging is really pretty!

  8. The packaging for this product is a bit different from the other products I've seen from their brand. I have to say, it does not look bad at all on your skin even though you said it's lighter. :)

  9. Too expensive for me!Looks good on you though. :)
My wallet says I can settle with Loreal Pro matte :)

  10. Wow its really super good quality i seen and heard a lot of international youtuber using this and i wonder why its really so good when they appying it.
Aside from so pricey it has really a good quality
