THE VERDICT:

It's quite refreshing to have a collection of the good ol' clay mask in this era of sleeping masks and sheet masks.  I mean, the latter, they're great, but for oily- skinned gals living in the tropics, clay mask is literally a best friend.

L'Oreal Pure Clay Masks is your new best friend if you have oily skin with the usual concerns to take care of like enlarged pores and blemishes. It's also very concentrated and it works that I can't believe it's P399 only!

L'Oreal Pure Clay Mask features four variants:

Detoxify- with Montmorrilonite clay and charcoal actives that effectively attracts toxins, sebum, oil, and dirt.

Anti-Pores- with Morocco Lava Clay and Rosemary that soften dead skin cells, regulates sebum, and purifies skin.

Hydration- with Atlantic Bentonite clay, Lemon Balm oil, and Bergamot that hydrates and pulls out dirt.

Illuminating- with Britain Kaolin clay, Lemongrass extract, and exfoliating beads to renew and brighten skin.

Ingredients L-R: Detoxify and Anti-Pores

Detoxify is rich putty- like cream with a light floral scent. Anti-Pores is a rich cream with a summery, floral fragrance. Both are very very concentrated and you only need a pretty small amount to cover the skin completely. Texture is also very easy to spread, even out (for Instagram! LOL), and sets fairly quickly, about 5 minutes.

Montmorrilonite clay is new to me so I did a quick research; I found that it's often compared to Bentonite. I learned that both have no significant difference and are even considered one and the same because Montmorrilonite particles are sometimes found in Bentonite clay as both are Smectites; they just originate from different locations: Montmorrilonite is called as such because it was first found in Montmorrilon, France and Bentonite is abundant in Wyoming (So that's why it's Aztec clay!). There may only be a small difference in mineral deposits as both came from different locations.

Hope you enjoyed that quick science lesson. ;)

Going back to the clays, here's Detoxify. It starts off black and turns gray. It yields quite a hold so expect deep facial relaxation when using this one.

No stinging sensation whatsoever. After rinsing, my face feels soft, and looks fresh and matte, but not taut.

This is Anti-Pores. It starts off light green and turns white. This yields no hold at all so perfect for those who don't like the muscle- relaxing effect of Detoxify. After rinsing, my face looked smoother; anti-pores indeed!

TBJ BEAUTY TIP: Best to leave a clay mask on for 10-15 minutes to experience the full benefits of the ingredients and to allow the clay enough time to absorb impurities.

I'm so happy with these masks because they're affordable, look chic, and very affordable! I wish more clay masks would come out for oily- skinned gals like me!
