THE VERDICT:
I did a massive beauty haul -which I will show in one of the next posts this coming week. Just gotta edit the video- and first to sit on the hot seat is Huda Beauty's much anticipated #FauxFilter Foundation. I was expecting to buy Huda Beauty products in OZ because I learned prior to the trip that the brand is available in Sephora Australia and I had this product on top of my list. I have been using it for about 4 days now and man, despite a few reservations with the consistency and finish, I love it because its staying power and finish are insanely good!
Huda Kattan, Beauty Blogger and entrepreneur extraordinaire needs no introduction as most of you probably know her because she's one of the most famous personalities in social media. HudaBeauty is the brand created by her and her sisters and is one of the most successful Blogger- established beauty brands.
#FauxFilter Foundation promises an airbrushed finish with its high percentage of ultra- refined pigments. Formula is infused with Argan and Centella Asiatica extracts that promote hydration. Promises to be fade- proof and comes in 30 shades with 6 shades per skin tone.
Ingredients
Product comes in an acrylic bottle; I thought it was glass, but nope- it's acrylic. Got me there, Huda! There's a pump dispenser that I greatly appreciate, plus it's twist it off the bottle too.
Consistency is a rich liquid cream. This is a VERY thick and VERY pigmented foundation; it's so concentrated that I had to be really careful when pumping it out of the bottle and make sure that I only get a small amount because a little amount goes a long way, like srsly. I am used to full coverage foundations, but boy, this one's a notch higher that I was taken aback the first time I used it. Yes, it's even thicker than Kat Von D Lock It Foundation!
My shade in the foundation is Machiatto, which is described as a lightly tan shade with golden or yellow undertones.
Let's put this baby to the test:
Bare skin
One layer of the foundation
Yep, one layer is enough. For those with virtually good skin, one and a half pea- sized amount should be enough! No concealer and corrector needed when you're using this foundation! I find the finish to be matte and not dewy matte as advertised. Macchiato is my shade match in the line; it's half a shade lighter than my skin tone, but it oxidizes for just a wee bit on me and it ends up mixing well with my natural skin tone. That said, I advise you to get a shade lighter if you're going to try #FauxFilter foundation.
Indeed, this product gives a flawless look as if there's literally a physical filter on top of your face. I can't believe how flawless I am when wearing this foundation!
TBJ TIP: This foundation spreads better and easily with a makeup sponge or a dense flat top foundation brush. Dab on parts that need coverage and buff until it has blended properly on the skin.
But as we all know, filters can sometimes make you look a bit unreal. In the case of #FauxFilter foundation, if you apply too much or even just a moderate amount, you run the risk of having a flat matte look or you may look as if you're wearing way too much foundation. So make sure you only get an ample amount (less means more with this product!), spread properly, blend well, and mist your skin to bring back the natural look of your skin.
TBJ TIP: To combat the flat matte look, use a dewy primer/illuminating primer.
After 10 hours
After a day of meetings, grocery shopping, dinner, and laundry, my foundation still looked unbelievably intact! Sure, there was a bit of oil that seeped through my T-Zone, but it wasn't bothersome at all, plus I love that the sides of my nose seem to have not creased at all. Take note, I did not retouch my makeup in the entire 10- hour duration!
Does this product need primer? You can do without it, but I would still suggest that you use one because everything's better with a primer underneath!
In sum, I could still say that Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation is very good mainly because of the insane staying power; the finish can be really good if you know how to work the product, use the right tools, and you take my advise: JUST TAKE A SMALL AMOUNT.
#FauxFilter Foundation is definitely perfect for oily skin and warm climates. The ingredients feature hydrating ingredients, but the way this foundation sets, I think it may be drying for dry skin so moisturize and use a moisturizing primer as preparation.
The full coverage foundation lover in me is quite happy with #FauxFilter foundation!
