Work From Home Makeup Tips

Looks like work from home will be the norm for 2020. Most people are going back to work, but some are still hesitant for understandable reasons while some are still allowed to work from home.

Online meetings are definitely the most preferred way to communicate at the moment and the question is: Do you still need to wear makeup under such circumstances? My short answer is yes because you are still at work after all, albeit at home.

So here are my tips on work from home makeup; it's simple, fast, and practical!

1. It's different when you conduct meetings face to face: you get to communicate better through words as well as body language and emotions. In online meetings, effective communication is somewhat reduced because of the distance barrier plus other obstacles such as intermittent Internet and quality of the camera used. This is why people tend to look for markers to understand better what the other person is saying so when it comes to work from home makeup, I suggest focus on 2 areas: EYES and LIPS. These are the parts of the face that people always look at when the other person is talking.

2. For the eyes, you don't need a smoky eye, dramatic eye makeup, or avant garde makeup; well- defined eyes is okay. Use a lid wash in a taupe brown/midtone brown shade to give it depth. Use eyeliner to make eyes look bigger and more defined. Fill in your brows. Eye makeup will easily draw the attention to one of the most important parts of your face.

3. For the lips, use your usual lipstick, preferably in an MLBB shade or a corporate- friendly shade like rose, warm brown, or warm peach. Nude and bright- colored lipstick can appear too stark or make you look sick depending on the monitor of the people you are talking with.

4. Work from home is an opportunity to let your face breathe! For my base, I only use concealer to conceal dark spots and dark circles, and then I set everything with powder; nothing too heavy or thick because most laptops and computers have low pixel cameras so I don't worry that much that my skin problems will look pronounced to my client or colleague.

5. Finally, blush. I add a bit of blush on my cheeks to complete my look plus contouring powder (optional). If you have pale skin, this is one makeup that I will recommend that you use.

Work from home is still working so treat it as if you are going to the office, although it's just a step away from your bed. :)
