Makati City, Philippines – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its Creative Industries Development Office, is set to conduct the second batch of the Malikhaing Pinoy Online Content Creation Class from 7 to 11 July 2025, in Parañaque City. This five-day training project aims to equip 30 selected scholars with the skills, knowledge, and tools to thrive in the evolving landscape of digital storytelling.
Building on the success of its inaugural run, the training continues to champion Filipino creativity by empowering content creators to produce culturally rich and ethically grounded digital content. The initiative forms part of DTI’s post-competition support for the Young Creatives Challenge (YC2) Season 2, specifically for the Online Content Creation category, and aligns with the goals of Republic Act No. 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act.
Strengthening this effort is DTI’s continuing partnership with Director Leo Martinez’s “Doon Po Sa Amin” program, an advocacy campaign dedicated to uplifting individuals and communities through digital storytelling, further enriching the project’s impact and reach.
The project features lectures and workshops led by esteemed mentors and industry experts, including Directors Leo Martinez, Raymond Red, Mel Bacani III, Ricky Orellana, Jr., Jolevs Domingo, and Screenwriter Mr. Senen Dimaguila, Jr. Resource persons such as Atty. Exequiel Valerio of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, Ms. Elli May Malabayabas of the Small Business Corporation, Atty. Jarica Esmail and Ms. Sealtiela Bustamante of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, and Ms. Jel Directo of the Creator and Influencer Council of the Philippines, among others, will also participate.
Scholars will undergo comprehensive training in storytelling, filming, editing, and entrepreneurial practices, culminating in the creation of a two-minute original video project inspired by Filipino proverbs or salawikain.
Participants will receive full scholarship coverage, including training fees, materials, accommodation, and meals. To qualify, applicants must be Filipino citizens of legal age, with at least one year of content creation experience, a consistent publishing schedule, and a minimum of 1,000 followers on a major social media platform.
The event will culminate on 11 July 2025 to showcase the scholars’ final projects and recognize outstanding participants. DTI officials and private sector representatives are expected to attend, highlighting the transformative role of digital storytelling in promoting Filipino identity and values.
As the Philippines continues to grow its online content creation community, the DTI remains committed to nurturing the next generation of digital storytellers who will shape the future of the country’s creative industries.
This project is part of the Malikhaing Pinoy Program, a flagship initiative by the Philippine government being implemented by the Department of Trade and Industry and as the Chair of the Philippine Creative Industries Development Council.
