THE VERDICT:
So what's so special about Dead Sea products? Furthermore, what makes the Dead Sea a must- visit place in Israel?

There are many literary references regarding Dead Sea as the "healing water" for humans. The Holy Bible has mentioned it a couple of times, and a historian named Flavius wrote sometime around two thousand years ago that indeed, it "heal(s) the human body".

Well, it's not because the Dead Sea is some kind of a mystical body of water. It's just that it is overflowing with minerals that are beneficial to humankind, and scientifically proven to heal internal and external afflictions and diseases.

Here are the important body minerals that can be found in the Dead Sea:

Magnesium- combats stress and fluid retention; slows skin aging; calms the nervous system
Calcium- strengthens bones and teeth; prevents water retention
Potassium- crucial mineral to replenish tired muscles; helps utilize minerals better after a hard exercise
Bromide- eases muscle stiffness

TRIVIA: "Studies have been conducted on the health benefits of bathing in Dead Sea salts. One such study was conducted by Dr. I. Machtey on 103 patients suffering from osteoarthritis and tendinitis. Patients were either treated with baths of 7.5%, 2% or 0.5% Dead Sea salt concentration. Improvement was found after as little as one week of treatment for those treated with 7.5% or 2% salt baths. By the study's end, 80% of the patients reported less pain; 70% experienced improved mobility and 60% were able to decrease their use of analgesics." (The Benefits of Dead Sea Salt, http://www.saltworks.us/salt_info/si_DeadSeaSalt_Benefits.asp)

The body scrub is made up of pure salt sourced from the Dead Sea, and not just some type of Dead Sea salt derivative. It is also infused with Jojoba and Sunflower oil for intense moisturization during and after bathing, and Argan Oil to prevent skin aging.

It also comes with a plastic seal to ensure product freshness. The scent/variant I got is Enchantment. It also comes in Forest Dreams.

This scrub is like a dream. Upon scrubbing, I can really feel that it effectively exfoliates my skin. As I rinse myself, I notice that the water changes from clear to a brownish color. It’s not that I’m not scrubbing myself well whenever I’m taking a bath. It just goes to show that an ordinary loofah can’t clean my skin extraordinarily. Texture is pretty gritty, so people with sensitive skin should exercise extra care when using this. I love it for its grittiness because it makes my skin incredibly soft and smooth to touch!

The oil in the scrub soothes skin during scrubbing so you won’t end up having reddish and sensitive skin. The oil extracts continue to moisturize your skin even after you towel yourself dry, and you wouldn’t be needing lotion any longer, unless you prefer to use one. I only use this once to twice per week as excessive scrubbing may be counter productive.

Since the scrub is made without the use of preservatives, the smell can turn foul if you accidentally put water in it. Just transfer an ample amount to a bowl during use, then seal the jar tightly to prevent spillage, as oil may seep through the cover.

TIP FOR SPA JUNKIES: You can scoop out some of the oil and bring it with you in your next spa session. It also works well as a massage oil.

After having a luxurious body scrub using the Dead Sea Salt Scrub, I follow it with Aqua Mineral’s Body Butter in Starlight Glamor (which also comes in the scent/variant called Springtime). I prefer using this before going to sleep since the body is more receptive to creams and treatments during this time. The result: soft, fragrant, and glowing skin every waking moment. I also use this on colder days when ordinary lotions are not sufficient in keeping my skin soft all day long.

You'll only need a little amount to cover your entire body. As for its longevity, Go figure! :D

AM’s Body Butter is a product that truly lives up to its name. It’s very rich and creamy, almost whipped in texture. Initial reactions to the product are: improved skin texture; provides a protective barrier on skin; yields slight sheen and hint of fragrance; Reapplication is not necessary because moisture lasts all day.

I know, these two tubs are pretty steep. But if you like treating yourself to something luxurious after a hard workweek, say, a body scrubbing session, then you should consider giving these a try. Come to think of it, a weekly spa session will usually cost you a minimum of 800- 1k, exclusive of parking, food, gas, and transportation fees, whereas a single tub of Aqua Mineral’s Body Scrub and Body Butter will last you for more than half a year, not to mention you get to spend more time with your family or dogs at home. On top of that, you can also use the products as often as you like.

If you're still thinking that these products are not worth purchasing, then let's do the math here:

Body Scrub Treatment at a Spa- P1000.00 (minimum)
Miscellaneous expenses (e.g. gas, food, parking fee, and transportation fees)- P800.00
Total: P1,800.00 X 18 (Suppose that you get a Spa treatment around thrice per month)= P32,400
Breakdown: P32,400/185 days (6 Months)
YOU'RE SPENDING: P175.13/day

VERSUS

Aqua Mineral Body Scrub+Body Butter= P4,000.00
Miscellaneous (e.g. gas, food, parking fee, and transportation fees)- P800.00 *once in 6 months
Total: P4,800.00 (tubs can last up to 6 months or more)
Breakdown: P4,800/185 days (6 Months)
YOU'RE SPENDING: P25.94/day

That said, the amount you’re going to pay for these is totally worth it. Aside from these, you get to experience the benefits of the Dead Sea without having to leave home or spending a fortune on airfare and accommodation (but it would be equally nice as well to visit Israel for the experience).

  4. Last holiday they had a 50% discount on all of their products. Too bad I didn't bought the Dead sea salt scrub. Obviously I'm really broke that time. lol! But maybe if you have reviewed their products earlier I'd really be tempted to have a grip on those babies!

Hmmm.. I'm wondering what brand of scrub is better.. The Aqua Mineral or Jericho? :)

  6. I tried using the Aqua Mineral soap and it realy made a big difference in my skin's texture as well as in it's shade. it also eliminated some of my allergies that i have in my legs (as a result of dry skin as i was using whitening soap for my daily bath)I'm sure this product will surely do better than the soap... i really want to try this. I'm just not sure if my husband would still give me the budget for this. haha!

    1. Lol! I also bought from that branch and felt like being robbed when I got home. I bought the body scrub and body butter at 2,500 each and the mask for 8,900 instead of 18,900 as reflected on the pricelist they showed me. I should have bought le labo instead of these overpriced infamous products.

    1. I think their pricelist is just a strategy to make you feel that you’ve got a very huge discount. This product is overpriced.

Regular price in scrub 50%off in body lotion and FREE nail kit. I'm so happy =). Maybe next time if I do have the budget I will buy the peeling gel. It's really great and amazing. 1. How much did it cost? I bought mud soap, cleanser and toner for 3600 pesos.. talaga bang ganun ang price then pinabibili nila ko ng peeling gel package for 17K?

    2. Yes, I believe so. But I think they're very generous in giving discounts. My mom bought several products from Aqua Mineral. The marketing director, which happened to be visiting the newly opened store gave a tantamount discount. She ended up buying a total of 12 products for 30k instead of 54+k.

  19. If you want a very huge discount, go to Gateway Cubao, their Manager there was really nice and willing to give almost half the price of the their products from the actual price. They're also super good in accommodating us! love them and the products!

  20. I absolutely love this product. The product container and label are stylish and sturdy. The dead sea products has a slight smell that is soothing to me, I don't mind the fragrance at all and after using the product my face felt a lot smoother and looked more clear (complexion wise). The mask is easy to put on and remove... source - http://deadseaproductstore.com/

  22. I felt like being robbed buying 4 products, amounting to 18,400) from Aqua Mineral last Tuesday at Robinson’s Ermita branch! When I got home to check my purchases, the mask that they gave me was already expiring on August. I came back the next day to have it changed but the foreign manager of that branch told me to come back the next day because he doesn’t have new stocks. Came back the next day and he pointed out on the box that the product replacement is new and has later expiry date. But when I carefully checked the box, the old expiry date was just obviously deleted on the back (right side) and the new expiry date was just stamped also on the back of box but on the left side. So I asked them that I do NOT want replacement anymore, just REFUND. They told me that they do not do refund so I called DTI & FDA yesterday (Thursday) to confirm. According to DTI, it is under the consumer act that we can return product especially that the merchant is trying to tamper the expiry dates as replacement to the near expiry product they initially gave me. I came back Thursday night to ask for refund but they still doesn’t want to return my money and was offering a free cleanser instead! WTH?! I do not want the replacement anymore, the expiry date might be tampered again and was tampered nicely this time?! They are an expert CON seller! Trying to sell many products, using foreigners as bait offering “huge discounts” for very expensive products that are waaay more expensive than famous & legit brands. I am sooo pissed that I wanted to return the product because I do not trust them anymore.

  24. I have an embarrassing experience in aqua marine store located in 3rd flr. of Glorietta infront of Food Choice. Thank GOD.

  25. I pointed my fingers to the staff who shouted me & treated me rudely, I told her that im your customer and you don't have the right to treated me that way. Kung ayaw niya n duruin ko sya wag nyang gawin ulit sakin yun dahil kulang p yun at di sapat s lahat ng mga pambabastos nila sakin s AQUA MARINE glorietta.
