LET’S TALK: Wacoal shows us how to age gracefully

Ladies, since we’re all educated on how to conceal and combat the signs of facial skin aging, let’s talk about something equally vital: BODY AGEING

Body ageing is a part and parcel of life. This is where our body begins to sag and lose its firmness and suppleness. Body ageing is particularly visible on our hips and breasts. Surgery is a way of combating and slowing body ageing, but not all people have the heart to undergo such. So the easiest and most natural way to age gracefully with your body is to wear intimates that will enhance and compliment it.

I was invited along with a couple of beauty and fashion bloggers to an afternoon of learning at Wacoal’s head office last February. The Wacoal team presented to us how our body undergoes the process of ageing, and what intimates would best enhance our assets. It’s really worth knowing, so read on.

THE BODY AGEING CYCLE

Wacoal has conducted a research on 40,000 subjects before they came up with the SPIRAL AGEING PATTERN, a pattern that explains the physiological changes in a woman’s body.

HOW BREASTS AGE

Younger girls have firmer and rounder breasts. As they age, the breasts lose their firmness and roundness due to the impact of everyday activities. Scientifically, breast ageing happens when ‘Cooper’s Ligaments’ lose their elasticity, along with the reduction of breast fat.

HOW HIPS AGE

Much like how breasts age, our hips lose its firmness and roundness due to the impact of daily activities too. Hips begin to sag when the muscles that hold its contour weaken, and the fat that keeps it up slips down.

You know what’s worse than body ageing? Wearing the wrong kind of innerwear. Body ageing is already quite hard to take, and wearing the wrong kind of innerwear will just make you feel discontented and disconnected from your body. If you’re in your 40’s and you wear a bra that’s made for a woman in her 20’s, it will only make you feel bad when you realize that it doesn’t fit you anymore. And if you’re in your 20’s and you wear a bra that’s made for a woman in her 40’s, you begin to think that there is something lacking in your body when in fact, you’re perfectly fine just the way you are.

Here’s a visual approach of what I’m talking about:

Wearing the wrong kind of brassiere not only makes you feel bad, it also enhances all the wrong features.

Yes, you can be a silent fashion victim if you wear the wrong kind of intimates!

So the solution is just plain and simple: WEAR AGE- APPROPRIATE INTIMATES.

HOW TO WEAR A GIRDLE PROPERLY

Body ageing is something that we should pay close attention to, but it shouldn’t take the fun out of ageing. In fact, it shouldn’t make us feel ashamed of our body! Those sagging breasts, hips, and protruded bellies shouldn’t make us feel less about ourselves. Instead, we should be proud of them because it just goes to show that we have made the most out of our bodies and lives. And more importantly, ageing is the time for us to be at peace with our bodies, and pay attention to the things and opportunities we have yet to do.

  5. I experienced the "Proper way to wear a bra" tutorial when I first bought brassieres from Wacoal. I really like their bras; support stays put and does not easily gets deformed [unlike other brands].

Anyways, this post is very informative. Keep posting, Ms. Martha! :D
