While everyone went to their own provinces for that much needed retreat from the city last Holy Week, Mom and I decided to not leave town and went for an overnight stay at Maxims instead.
Maxims is located at the heart of the "Las Vegas of the Philippines", Resorts World, Pasay City. It is deemed as the only 6-star hotel in the country that boasts of its "Butler Type" room service.
Privacy is what you pay for when you stay in luxurious places like this. For instance, the M Spa, Maxims' resident wellness center does not accept walk-ins---not even people staying in at Marriot. It is only exclusive to the esteemed guests of Maxims.
We got the regular room, which is priced at P15,000.00+++. Wonder what a 6-star hotel room looks like? See it after the cut!
It looks like this. It's bigger than most 5- star hotel rooms I've been to, but truth be told, there's nothing extra special and grand about it, except for a few features.
One of the best things in the room: An iPod dock! I'd rather listen to music than watch T.V., so this is just perfect!
This is what a telephone looks like in a 6-star hotel. It's a touch- screen Avaya phone that has access to the butler's station. It can also accommodate local and overseas calls. With just a touch, a butler will come to you at your every whim. However, there was one incident wherein the butler station took like 5 minutes to answer our call, and took 3 'follow ups' to deliver our complimentary bottles of water. Ayay-yay. :/
The workplace. We have free WiFi access with personalized username and password!
Munchies! Look at that juicy plum!
More munchies. Unfortunately, for a 6-star hotel, these aren't for free. Boo!
If you're going to get a 'smoking room', you will see these lavish ashtrays everywhere with complimentary Maxims lighters to boot!
The beds are ULTRA comfy, I must say. They're more comfortable than beds in 5- star hotels. The bed and pillows are so plush, that mom and I ended up missing our complimentary breakfast buffet 'cos we overslept. Le cry!
Ze bathroom
The shower and toilet were sectioned into cubicles. Taray! Privacy at its finest!
Our complimentary toiletries came with loofahs. Hay, when will 5-star hotels decide to include free loofahs for guests?
Nail Care Kit, 6- Star hotel style. :) Yes, that's a complimentary nail kit with nail cutter, steel buffer and file inside!
5- star hotels have bath tubs, but they don't have BATH SALTS!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed my bubble bath with these fragrant Orange-Bergamot bath salts.
After settling down in our room, Mom and I went for a stroll around Resorts World.
TOP: Forever21 (which I stole from mom)
SHORTS: American Eagle
FOOTWEAR: Tory Burch
BAG: Rabeanco
Seeing that Furla store behind me in this pic reminded me of my love and lust for their new candy bags all of a sudden!
The next day, since we missed breakfast, we just ate lunch buffet at Java+ at Marriot. I highly recommend their buffet. It's currently one of the cheapest yet tastiest buffet places in town at only P1,500+. And the best part? There are no hidden charges! (I sound like an ad person here)
Too bad, we weren't able to take a dip in that lovely pool because we're already running late. We're supposed to check out at 12 noon, but with the help of my mom's charm, we're able to get a complimentary stay until 2:30 P.M.
Nope, 6-star hôtels don't have poolside chairs. Instead, they have GAZEBOS!
Look at the pool. It's surrounded by thick tempered glass. Sosyal! Picture- taking, anyone?
Overall, the place is nice, but it's not something I'd recommend to everyone. Their rate is really steep, and the butler service wasn't that impressive. In fact, I didn't even feel their presence. But I have no complaints about their service for the butlers are really nice, approachable, and accommodating. At least I got a chance to stay in a 6- star hotel, and that goes to my life list. If you want to stay in for the experience, why not? You should take advantage of that glass pool by having your picture taken underwater. :p
Rumor has it that the soon-to-rise Raffles Hotel at Makati City is the second 6-star hotel in the country. Maybe I'd give that a shot for comparison's sake. Next goal? Burj Al Arab, the 7-star hotel in Dubai! (Goodluck to me!)
