Let’s talk about Rosacea: Rosacea is a skin condition characterized by extreme erythema (redness) occurring at the central part of the face. (Forehead, Chin, Cheeks, Nose, and Philtrum) In severe cases, the whole face area is affected, including the eyes. (Which is considered as a fatal kind of Rosacea in medical literature) Rosacea is common in Caucasians, and there are reported cases of Rosacea occurring in tanned and dark- skinned people, although rare.

A mild case of Rosacea

Rosacea typically starts as redness across the cheeks and nose, and often mistaken as a ‘natural blush’ by most people. If not attended to medically, Rosacea can lead to severe damages like Dermatitis and permanent scarring.

A severe case of Rosacea

One of the most common effects of Rosacea is Acne. It might not seem a biggie, but Rosacea Acne spreads rapidly—one seemingly harmless zit can cause a chain of pimples, and will eventually end up in a major breakout. And this reaction could happen faster than you can imagine. Rosacea can also make your skin hypersensitive. People with this skin condition are forbidden to ingest various food and beverages, and prohibited to take certain medicines and supplements because Rosacea can be triggered quickly.

Rosacea is a very painful skin condition, but it can be tamed by Steroidal medicines. But when Rosacea strikes, it is painful and unbearable most of the time, and medications may not suffice. During a flare up, people suffering from Rosacea experience swelling, itchiness, a sudden rush of blood to the face, and hypersensitivity.

Since we’re already talking about Rosacea, here’s something new and lifesaving by VMV Hypoallergenics: Red Better Deeply Soothing Cleansing Cream.

THE VERDICT:

VMV Hypoallergenics has recently come up with a line called RED BETTER. It is formulated to help manage Rosacea. I’ve been using the line for a month now, and here’s what I have to say about the Red Better Cleansing Cream.

Since hypersensitivity is a main problem for Rosacea sufferers, VMV has omitted possible allergens that can trigger a flare- up. It’s so gentle, you could probably use it on a baby! But don’t take my word for it because babies are a different story. :P

Monolaurin is one of VMV’s star ingredients. I’ve been using the brand for a couple of months now, and I always see it in their ingredients list. Monolaurin, in case you didn’t know, is a powerful anti- microbial substance. Since Acne is the main antagonist in this tragedy called Rosacea, Protagonist Monolaurin can help kill acne- causing bacteria. It is also rich in coconut oil, (a very good moisturizer) plus a bunch of ultra moisturizing ingredients to help manage dryness, redness, and sensitivity.

Here’s a complete list of the ingredients

Commercial break: The reason why I love VMV is because apart from being a Filipino company, they also aim to lessen their environmental footprints by using recycled paper for their glue- less cartons and soy- based inks for the prints. But if you’re gonna ask me, why not ditch the entire box packaging idea? That’s going to make the world a better place because those tons of carton folds could still make another box. VMV’s products look and feel luxurious, and I think they would still look fab without the boxes.

TIP: When you purchase VMV product/s, please leave the boxes in the store so they could reuse it to house the other products. You’re gonna throw ‘em away anyway, so please, save Mother Earth and leave them in the store. :)

Here’s the cleansing cream. It’s so rich, emollient, dreamy, and creeeeaammmy. It feels like whipped body butter! It is fragrance- free, but I could smell a hint of Coconut in it. But don’t worry, that’s not perfume but the natural scent emanating from the Coconut Oil extract. Since this cleanser is thick, I take a pea- sized amount and dilute it with a few drops of water so I could spread it easily across my face.

The cleanser softens your face right after rinsing. It gets rid of dirt, sebum, and makeup without the irritating tight and dry feeling. However, I did not feel any cooling sensation from it as advertised.
I don’t have much to say because I do not have Rosacea. But overall, I love it because it’s very gentle. It didn’t cause me a breakout, and didn’t dry out my skin. People with dry skin will love this because it’s very moisturizing. Methinks that it will also suit people with sensitive to hypersensitive skin because it’s VMV’s mildest cleanser to date. But still, ask your doctor for some professional advice.

If you know someone who’s suffering from Rosacea, lessen their burdens and introduce them to the Red Better Line. Or if you have reddish cheeks and you get zits often, beware. Those blushing cheeks and juicy zits may not be puppy love, but early symptoms of Rosacea.
Please bear in mind that the Red Better Line is not a cure, but only a line- up of products to help manage Rosacea. If you think you have Rosacea, don’t do self- medication! Seek a dermatologist immediately.

I actually have the whole Red Better line, so keep on checking my blog for my reviews on the following: Red Better Flare- Up Balm, Red Better Spot Corrector, and Red Better Moisturizer.

  1. Thanks for the info. Medyo naguguluhan pa din ako between rosacea and hormonal imbalance na may acne. Parang same kasi ng redness and inflamation yung both.

  3. Aside from lessening the burden of Rosacea, can this also lessen the redness of sensitive skins? My sister's skin is sensitive whenever she touch it, it turns red but she doesn't have Rosacea. do they have a smaller product for this or is it in standard size?
