Welcome again to another edition of Fan Mail Fridays. We have a question here from Olivia, one of my new avid readers. She asks:
Can you please suggest what kind of make-up I should wear that would be appropriate for a wedding that can be carried from day to night? How do I apply them? And if you have suggestions of products and brands, please do!
- Olivia
Hi Olivia!
Wedding makeup is best if it's fresh, young, and never overwhelming. As it is, I think it's only good for daytime and may need a little tweaking for it to suit night time events. But don't worry, you won't need a major overhaul. You'll only need one or two products to take your wedding makeup look from day to night.
I have here two techniques: Eyeshadow and Lipstick. There are people who don't like wearing loud lipsticks and would prefer wearing bolder eyeshadow colors, and vice versa. Just choose anything that suits you best.
I'm throwing in a little tutorial on how to create the base for your eye makeup:
1. Using an eye shader brush and a base color, apply a sheer amount on your lids to set a base for the other colors.
2. Using a midtone crease color and blender brush, apply on your creases and blend evenly.
3. Finish off by highlighting your brow bone, applying eyeliner, mascara, and falsies.

Since the color of your dress is white, you can go for the following color combinations:
A.) Purple/Silver/Pink
B.) Rose/Dark Brown/Beige
C.) Light green/Dark Green/Pink
D.) Red/Gold/Brown/Bronze

TECHNIQUE 1: LIPSTICK
If you're not particularly skilled at applying eyeshadows, the easiest way to overhaul your look is by changing your lip color. For daytime, go for something cool, fresh, and with a satin or glossy finish. Come night time, change your lipcolor into something bold, warm, and with a matte finish.

1. Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks
2. Bobbi Brown Lipsticks
3. M.A.C. Lipsticks
4. NYX Matte Lipsticks
5. Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Matte Lipsticks
TECHNIQUE 2: EYESHADOWS
If you like playing with colors or if you simply want to change your eye makeup look, a darker crease color will do. Since your gown is white, you can go for steel gray, blue-black, or black eyeshadow colors.
WORK IT: Using a blender brush and your preferred darker crease shade, apply on the lowest part of your creases and blend upwards. Apply sparingly, build gradually.
If you darken your eye makeup, you have the option to just retain your current lip color. Let your eyes do the talking for you.
