THE VERDICT:

I got a cold sore 2 weeks ago and thankfully, it's healed now. I normally get a cold sore on my lip area, most especially when my immune system weakens and I get a cold and cough. It is a little painful, dries out my lips excessively, and it takes a while to heal so that means no lip product for me until it's fully dry, except clear lip ointments such as Aquaphor and Lucas Papaw. I'm never without a tinge of color on my lips so I really searched for lip products that are very cold- sore friendly and I've found one in VMV Hypoallergenics.

Toasted Sugar is a semi- deep Caramel Brown color. I opted for this shade because it's an easy-to-wear MLBB color.

VMV HYPOALLERGENICS SHEER LIP TINT IN TOASTED SUGAR IN ACTION

Coverage is sheer, yet buildable. Texture is emollient, non-drying, keeps my lips smooth, and staying power is okay: it stays intact for a good 2 hours, and comes off gradually with a few sips of coffee. Unlike any other lip tints, this one does not contain dyes, is fragrance, Paraben, and all-types-of-chemicals free, and does not yield any minty sensation that can aggravate the throbbing pain of my cold sore. In my experience, it's harmless even if my cold sore ruptures accidentally, although I would advise you not to treat it as a medication for wounded lips. I'm very happy with this product, and I'm getting another color for variety every time my cold sore pops out on my lips. I think it's also good for those who have dry, crackly, sensitive, lips, and those lips that wound up easily because it's pretty much safe to use.

  7. I'm suffering from cold sores too! :( They hurt like hell when the lips are dry. Nothing that a generous amount of the right lip balm can temporarily soothe though. For color, I use naman Revlon's Balm Stains. :)
