THE VERDICT:

Let's be a little techie today...Kikay techie, I mean. I'm going to muse about Avon's Style Specialist's line of electronic hair tools: I've had them for quite some time now--unluckily, I'm still nowhere near  the advanced level in the hair styling department, (I don't have time to practice, that's why) but at least with these tools, I get to sport nice and styled hair whenever I please.

Style Specialist is a set of hair tools that are meant to help you achieve pro- styled hair at home-it has been a staple line of Avon. The tools are still the same, but this time, design's in Black and Gold with a tribal pattern--the previous design was hot pink with a Zebra pattern.

AVON STYLE SPECIALIST HAIR CURLER IN DETAIL

- On/Off switch with LED light indicator

To me, the most important feature of this curler is its On/Off switch because it allows you to stop the device quickly once it turns piping hot-it also lets you 'unplug' the device without actually pulling the cord out of the electric socket. It starts warming up after ten seconds from plugging, and becomes completely hot and ready for use after 4 or 5 minutes. It gives you a decent curl when you hold it for about 15-20 seconds.

AVON STYLE SPECIALIST HAIR CURLER IN ACTION

The barrel's size is standard, and it gives you medium curls. Here's one of my hair looks using this curler. For denser and tighter curls like this, section your hair into small parts.

Please take note that I didn't use Avon's Style Specialist Hair Curler in this photo, but rather my retired Philips Salon Specialist Hair Curler-I just used this photo for representation purposes since both hair curling irons pretty much produce the same kind of curls.

Just like the curler, it has an On/Off switch, and I love that it doesn't feel plasticky. It also comes with a lock on the area near the cord that's supposed to protect the ceramic plates and shut the two sides together, but mine doesn't work. Be sure to test the lock before using so you can have it replaced.

Ceramic plates are much better than traditional metal plates because it does not damage the hair. The plates on this straightener heat up gradually and become completely hot and ready to use after about 5 minutes. Unlike metal plates, these ceramic plates don't become piping hot and burn your hair. It also straightens hair effectively without the fizzling and crackling sounds, signs that your hair is being damaged.

AVON STYLE SPECIALIST BLOW DRYER IN DETAIL

- Has 2 types of heat settings

- 17cm L x 9 cm W x 22cm H

My favorite item in the bunch because it's very portable, (the handle folds up) and dries up my hair in less than 5 minutes. (Depends on the thickness of hair) It has hot and cool drying options.

I've been using both for 4 months now and they're still working. The three tools feel very sturdy and don't look cheap at all. Best for those who want a very affordable but decent everyday electric hair tools. :)
