THE VERDICT:

Do you want something that's as effective but way cheaper than MAC's Blot Powder? Meet The Balm's Sexy Mama! It's an ultra compact, quick makeup fix that will rid your skin of oil and makes you fresh instantly!

THE BALM SEXY MAMA ANTI-SHINE TRANSLUCENT POWDER IN DETAIL

This cruelty- free and Paraben- Free powder contains some of the well- known oil- absorbing ingredients namely Corn Starch (the main ingredient of my favorite Allison Raffaelle Translucent Powder), Silica, and Rice Starch.

What I love the most about The Balm's products is the ultra clever, travel- friendly packaging: Small in size, sleek in shape, and easily recognizable due to the quirky, catchy designs!

Sexy Mama only comes in one shade. It's very translucent so it fits almost all skin tones, but can leave a hint of white cast if layered on for more than five times. Speaking of which, who on earth layers his/her face powder on the skin for more than 5 times?!

THE BALM SEXY MAMA ANTI-SHINE TRANSLUCENT POWDER IN ACTION

I've encircled the product swatch just in case some of you can't spot it. Texture is a little dry, which makes it really apt for those with moderate to extremely oily skin. It is unscented, yields minimal fallout, and needs to be blended well on the skin to prevent patchy coverage.

WORK IT: Works with any powder brush, but personally, I prefer The Balm's Mini Kabuki Brush because of its compactness, and to distribute it effectively on my skin.

When blended on the skin

This powder just disappears like magic, leaving no chalky trace, cakey feeling, and without any rough, dry texture! It controls oil really well, up to 5 hours maximum. Quality is very much like MAC Blot Powder, but the only difference is MAC has shade options to compliment a range of skin tones. I find that it's better off as a blotting powder because it requires some considerable effort if used as a setting powder. Best suits everyday use. By the way, I'm now on my second pan! :)

  6. Amanderrific: Thank you and welcome to my blog! :)

BrownOso: Same! I have this certain fondness for vintage pin-up girls (the style, I mean) that's why I love The Balm!

CJ: Noted! What you should buy depends on what you need. :)

Stephanie: Hi there! Essence is loose powder while this is compact powder. Essence is best used as a setting powder because it's very easy to distribute on the skin, whereas Sexy Mama is really built for touch-ups. Hope this answers your question! :)
