THE VERDICT:
Last night, I passed by Makati CBD as my home route for the day. I was supposed to fall asleep on the driver (which is what I always do to anyone even with my boyfriend when I'm not the one driving), but Makati's Christmas lights display on the Ayala stretch was so dazzling that I just stared and marveled at them in all their glory instead of dozing off, like still fireflies amidst an ultra busy district. It's Christmas, folks, and that means it's high time for illuminators and highlighters to rule my makeup regimen-my look has to keep up with the season. :)
BOBBI BROWN BRIGHTENING BRICK IN PINK IN DETAIL
This product was part of the Navy and Nudes Collection. Much like Bobbi's good ol' Shimmering Brick, Brightening Brick is meant to illuminate skin, but unlike the former, this one gives a more subtle barely-there glow and I like it!
The Shimmer Brick has a chunky and heavy packaging, but this one is smaller and lighter, although comes with a magnetic closure.
Swatches and reason why this is my most favorite highlighter to date after the break. :)
It is a mix of six mellow, icy, and pale pink shades with different finishes- there's frost, matte, and sparkle. Here's a break down of the six shades:
1- Pink Beige with big silver sparkles
2- Blushing Pink
3- Pink Champagne with light silver-gold shimmer
4- Cool Pink with light silver shimmer
5- Light Rose Pink with chunky silver shimmer
6- Icy Pink with light silver shimmer
Powder is very fine and pressed very well-I didn't get any powder or glitter fallout during usage and texture is quite smooth, it blends well. Pigmentation is softer than the Shimmer Brick, and coverage is light to medium. Shimmers might be chunky, but are not that noticeable on the skin.
BOBBI BROWN BRIGHTENING BRICK IN PINK IN ACTION
Brightening Brick applied all over my skin and concentrated on my apples and nose line (as if I have a nose line LOL!)
It is indeed true that this Brightening Brick brightens your skin. Check the photo and notice that it gave my skin this soft, sheer, and very natural- looking glow. The Shimmer Brick, on the other hand, gives you a more noticeable layer of highlighter as its finish is somewhat frosted. Shades of this product are on the cool side, but it surprisingly looked good on my skin tone- I would have to thank its ultra fine powder and light coverage for that. I also noticed that instead of reflecting light, it diffuses it for a soft focus highlighting effect, as if my entire skin is glowing with health. It's quite multitasking too: You can use it as a standalone eyeshadow or as a brow highlighter, and a finishing powder to highlight your Décolletage. It lasts for a good 5 hours on my skin.
I like everything about this highlighter: It's compact, finish is very sheer yet noticeable, and it's in powder form so my oily skin loves it. Aside from that, it's so foolproof that you can even apply it with your fingers. I hope you can still find it in any of our Bobbi Brown counters. If not, there's always Bobbi Brown online to order! :)

ReplyDeleteIs this a highlighter? or it can also act as a blush? I hope they included a white pigment for highlighting the inner corners of your eye. They're not too pigmented though...
