THE VERDICT:
Have you guys heard about YSL's Glossy Lip Stains? They're supposedly a mash up of lipstick, lip gloss, and lip tint to create this unique, lasting coverage. The first time I saw and tried it was in Hong Kong--I really liked its payoff, but found it way too expensive. When I got this product called Pro Beauty Tinted Rouge from Holika Holika, I had a Eureka moment because it is THE PERFECT dupe for YSL's product-I kid you not!

It's very much like YSL's product: A combination of lip gloss, lipstick, and lip stain. It's for those who find lip glosses too sheer and not long lasting, lipsticks too thick and non-moisturizing, and lip tints too flat and non-moisturizing as well. Ah! I hope that didn't confuse you. In short, it's something that promises to suit your preferred finish and benefits.
Packaging is very light, compact, and handy, although I am not so sure about the feel of the entire packaging. Maybe I'm looking for something that feels more luxe as Korean brands are really known for great packaging? Ah, don't mind me-I'm just nitpicking here. :D Anyway, it feels very sturdy though and comes with a medium- sized applicator that pretty much fits any lip shape.

PK101 is a gorgeous hot pink shade. It's very light and has this unique silicone-y texture which kinda' reminds me of soft matte lipsticks, except that it has a glossy, moisturizing finish. The thing that makes this a winner for me-aside from its wonderful payoff-is its dainty Rose Scent-it's mild though, so don't worry. It has little tendency to become streaky though, but you can remedy that easily by applying it by layers and evening it out with the inclusive applicator.

Here's a swatch photo of YSL's Glossy Lip Stain I grabbed from Nicole Reviews Beauty. If you're gonna compare it with my swatch, there seems to be no difference at all when it comes to the pigmentation and finish, but I can't say which has the better staying power. YSL also has a glossier appearance, but I'm cool with it because I never really liked an ultra glossy finish anyway.
PK101 is a shade that prettifies you! It's the kind of hot pink that will suit any skin tone, and I like how it reminds me of spring. The dewy payoff made this shade less intimidating despite the fact that it is so bright and bold. Staying power is good: It stays on for about 3- 4 hours before it comes off and I'm left with a nice, even stain that pretty much lasts all day. It has a very unique texture and I could see girls of all ages wearing this thing. I've been using it a lot lately because it has everything I could possibly want from a lip product: great pigmentation, light shine, super moisturizing texture, and a pretty stain. This is my most recommended product from Holika Holika!

ReplyDeletewow.. i paid 400+ for a lipstick..so I guess it wouldn't hurt to try this product... Amazing how pigmented this is. I normally buy matte or satin lipsticks because they tend to be more pigmented.. My lips are a bit darker on the edges so a good pigmented lipstick is a must for me..

Stephanie: It's actually affordable considering that it's almost comparable to that dratted YSL Glossy Lip Stain lol. It's one of their best- sellers so I doubt it would go on a sale anytime soon :)
