THE VERDICT:

I've had no luck finding a shade in foundations by direct selling beauty brands. I sometimes wonder why direct selling brands would only bring in 3 shades (and they're all fair at that) to the Philippines considering that there are so many tanned ladies in here! The foundations they have could be great after all, but what hinders me from trying is the lack of shade options.

This has changed when I met Mary Kay Timewise Matte Wear Liquid Foundation. The shade I got somewhat suits me, and I like the quality of this product!

MARY KAY TIMEWISE LIQUID FOUNDATION IN BEIGE 5 IN DETAIL

This foundation is part of Mary Kay's best- selling Timewise skin care range-I just think it's brilliant to include makeup in the said line so users can continue reaping the benefits all throughout the day. This foundation is formulated with Vitamin E and peptides that help tighten and lift the skin, minimize fine lines, and shrink pores. It comes in 23 shades, but we only have 5 locally. Matte Wear is intended for oily and combination (oily/normal) skin types-they have other liquid foundation formulations in the Timewise range too.

Ingredients

More about this light matte liquid foundation for daytime!

Product comes in one size only and in a chic, shimmery light pink squeeze tube for sanitary dispensing.

Beige 5 is a medium dark beige with yellow undertones-it suits NC40-NC42 (MAC's shade system) gals, but on the latter shade match, it looks a wee bit lighter. I'm NC42 so I prefer using it during daytime because it kinda' yields a white cast in photos. The white cast is not so bad, you know, and a little help from my shade- matching powders usually does the trick for me. :)

Texture is superbly light for a matte foundation. Consistency is semi- watery, spreadable, and feels hydrating on the skin. It sets fairly quickly and doesn't highlight patches. You can layer it on without the cakey and heavy feeling. It's a lil' streaky though so be sure to even out the coverage with a liquid foundation brush.

MARY KAY TIMEWISE LIQUID FOUNDATION IN BEIGE 5 IN ACTION

Skin with Benefit Fake Up and Estēe Lauder Double Wear Concealer.

Two layers of the foundation

Coverage is light to medium-it can conceal  light discolorations, but needs help from thicker facial concealers for severe discolorations. Pigmentation is pretty good and it can cover up redness quite well, but not that effective in concealing facial bumps.

Despite being an anti-aging product, it gives off a luminous, matte finish instead of flat matte. Because dewiness is what gives you that youthful look after all. Staying power is very impressive for such an affordable product: It lasts all day with minimal to no fading (depending on how oily your skin is), and controls oil on my T-Zone for a whopping 4 hours. I think it's also important to mention that even if it has a matte finish, it feels 'flexible' and doesn't feel clogging. That's why I think it's the perfect matte foundation for Filipinas who are on a budget! ;)

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel that the days are starting to get warmer now (Summer, hello! :D) and you know what this means for gals who have oily skin like moi. But that doesn't mean we can let the sun and sebum ruin our game. With a light matte foundation like this, you're sure to look fresh and pretty all day long! :)

  8. I tried this before and yes, it was great. The only thing that I didn't like is the smell...:)
Kinda strong for me...or maybe it was just me since I am really not used to wearing foundations especially the liquid types...so I gave it to my sister who is my number 1 customer then because the timewise skin care didn't act on her skin (who has by the way the most active allergen in our family - I have the least)

Great review. I am a Mary Kay consultant but I have never tried Beige 5 until today. I have been using Beige 2. It looks good in person but it leaves a white cast in photos because it's lighter than my natural skin tone.
