THE VERDICT:

I have a friend who's really having a hard time finding a mascara wand that won't poke her very chinky eyes. I think she's having a harder time finding a mascara wand than a boyfriend haha! And so I told her to read my blog today because I've got some good news for her and if you have that dilemma too, read on. :)

ESTĒE LAUDER DOUBLE WEAR EXTREME ZERO SMUDGE ALL EFFECTS MASCARA IN DETAIL

This mascara promises to stay put, lengthen, volumize, and deepen eyes with its jet- black formula. It features a superb mini brush and the huge plus is it's tested on and formulated to suit Asian eyes too.

Now here's the brush. It's a comb type wand, but it's pretty small that you can even use it to coat your lower lashes, no sweat. (I do that with this) I also noticed that the tips of the bristles are quite rounded and they don't hurt my eyes in case I accidentally poke 'em. :)

Check out how this mascara fares after the break!

It's more of a lengthening mascara than a volumizing mascara because one look at the wand, I knew that it was gonna deliver just that. But thanks to its deep black, semi-matte color, it somehow makes your lashes appear a wee bit thicker at the base. Consistency is smooth and creamy, it dries up efficiently, and doesn't make lashes feel gritty. It gives that long, wispy false lashes effect to the eyes so I would really recommend it to those with really short lashes. (esp. those with small eyes) However, it can only stay smudge- proof at a certain point, say when you're just sweating normally because of the heat or after walking for a few blocks, but if we're talking about intense sweating like doing hardcore sessions at the gym, I found that this mascara smudges for a little. (I should know. I tried it) It's not for those who sweat around the eye area.

It's not for me, but again, if you have chinita eyes, you'll like this mascara because the wand is well- suited to such eye shape. Or if you can't stand the prickly tips of other comb wands, you'll find this as a gentler alternative.

  1. I'm not really good at applying mascara as they always tend to clump in some parts. I have just resorted to wearing clear mascara for an easier application and for a more natural look.

  2. Whenever I buy a mascara, I look for a comb type like this one. Besides the fact that it lengthens, it is easier to remove excess product with a tissue for a more volumizing effect with less clumps.

  4. I don't do it on purpose, but I've always gotten mascaras with spoon-type wands even though I get the occasional accidental "sundot" that causes the mascara to spread to my lid or undereye. Next time, I might consciously go for the comb-type brush because, darn it, it looks less likely to go where it shouldn't! :p

  5. matromao: I still find that the traditional nylon brush is the easiest to use and control. :)

  6. I bought this by accident and thought it was hands down the worst mascara I've ever used. The brush/comb is absolutely hideous and overloads the lashes with so much product that they all stick together (as in your pictures) and then makes you look like you only have about ten eyelashes.
