THE VERDICT:

What are my barometers when it comes to determining effective serums? Simple: 1. I empty the whole bottle 2. I open up a fresh one and repeat step 1. I'm very adventurous when it comes to skin care and I'm not the type who'll stick to one product or line for a long time, unless it's really, really good and I see that it's continuously improving my skin or maintaining whatever progress I had with it, at the very least. So if I repurchase or reuse a certain serum, that means it works (at least for me)!

There are only two serums that I keep on reusing and repurchasing: One is Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate, which I use when I need deep moisture and nourishment, and the last one is this: Estēe Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum, which I use when I need to rejuvenate and repair my skin-I cycle both products, depending on the season: Kiehl's is for the rainy months and Estēe Lauder, for the summer months and stressful holidays. I'm now moving onto my 3rd ANR bottle! Let me share how much I love this product. :)

ESTĒE LAUDER ADVANCED NIGHT REPAIR SERUM 2 IN DETAIL

This new and improved ANR 2 formula promises to repair and restore skin with Catabolysis Technology, a purifying compound made with Algae extract that aids cells in every renewal process, while Chronolux Technology is a clock gene technology that supports the skin's natural synchronization process during night time. Aside from these innovative skin care technologies, ANR 2 also features Hyaluronic Acid for all- day hydration, Anti-Pollution Technology that prevents skin from turning dull and lifeless, and Antioxidants to protect the skin by neutralizing at least 90% of Free Radicals-the result is even, supple, youthful, wrinkle- free, smooth, and bouncy skin.

Bottle is reminiscent of apothecary- style bottles and the dropper completes its vintage look. The overall appeal of the bottle makes it seem as if it's a product for older women, but I believe-and this is backed up by 5 months of consistent usage-that its formula is well- suited even to those who are in their mid- 20's.

ANR is a watery-gel product that's virtually unscented-it's so light, refreshing, and I don't feel that it clogs the pores, plus it gets absorbed fairly quickly as well-some even mix this serum with liquid foundation to give their makeup a lil' boost.

You can use this serum during daytime and night time. For night time, just seal it with a night cream or a thicker moisturizer because I don't feel that the formula is hydrating enough (this tip goes for everyone, especially those with dry skin).

My skin 5 months after (with consistent ANR II usage)

It took me an entire bottle to notice its full effects and these are: 1. It makes skin look healthy 2. It refines skin texture 3. It gives skin this plump, bouncy feel 4. It makes skin look well- rested. Overall, this product has helped eradicate dullness and took care of my skin's look, and it still does so up to this day. Some Bloggers even said that this product has helped them fade acne scars and control acne-I did not experience those effects, but I still like the way it has affected my skin.

For the past 5 months, I've been sleeping so late, but my skin doesn't look it-I firmly believe that ANR II has helped me with this. What I also like about it is the formula is gentle and it doesn't sting and leave me with red patches unlike other anti-aging serums. However, I do not know how this product compares with ANR I and if it's formulated to address deeper signs of aging-as I said, I find the formula pretty mild and just good enough to re-awaken the skin.

The Advanced Night Repair range: Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum, Advanced Night Repair II Serum, and Advanced Night Repair Eye

Am I willing to repurchase? Oh, I already have my third bottle, waiting in my skin care cabinet as I'm almost near the bottom of my 2nd one. :) If you're in your mid-20's, have dull, oily, and rough skin, try this product-I swear by it! :)

  1. I'm getting tired of my usual cleanse-tone-moisturize skincare routine and I've been wanting to incorporate specialized beauty treatments like serums as an upgrade. For now I think imma be on a hunt for a drugstore priced one first. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I wish to use this one soon :)

  2. I find the product very very promising. But, it's kinda pricey for me. :/ However, if I really have the money, I would buy this as well. :) I haven't tried any serum yet due to its price. I'm using the usual facial products lang such as moisturizers, night creams, day creams, toners, moisturizers, etc.

  4. Gosh, recently I've been *slightly* obsessed with following the 12-step Korean skincare routine you posted some time ago. It's mostly because I've developed a fear of my skin aging (even if I'm only 19) since I have dry skin. :( This serum's pricey but I think it will be worth it to avoid the horrors (lol exagg) of skin aging.

  5. Currently obsessed with oils, serums, repair oils. I just love how my skin feels the morning when I applied it at night before I go to sleep. The packaging reminds me of Tarte's maracuja oil. My holy grail when it comes to facial oils. :)

  6. I haven't tried specialized serums yet as I believe the less I expose my skin to products, the better so as not to batter my skin with so much formulation. I do go and experiment with different products, but I'm quite careful with products that require skin absorption, such as serums and oils.

I do think I'll be needing to find my perfect age-defying product soon as I'm nearing quarter life crisis haha!

  7. Jessy: I think you should give it a try soon enough-I'm really in love with this serum! :D

Mica: Agree with that, but a little extra wouldn't hurt, but yeah, use only what you need, everytime! :)

Itsmefati: Awesome! I've heard of that product too. When it comes to oils, I use kiehl's midnight recovery oil. :D

    Rhain: Enjoy! :D

    Abegaill: Soon enough! :D

Cath: I wish so too! :D
