THE VERDICT:

I've always been curious about DIY Skin Peels, but I used to be scared enough to not try because you know, peeling is an advanced skin care routine already and a slight mistake can cost you a lot.

Last year, I mustered enough courage to explore the world of skin peels and started with Philosophy The Microdelivery Peel, which is apparently, one of Philosophy's best- selling products. Simply put, it's a DIY Peeling solution that promises to reveal new skin.

PHILOSOPHY THE MICRODELIVERY PEEL IN DETAIL

My detailed review on this product after the break.

So here's a closer look at the products: Microdelivery Peel Step One is Vitamin C Peptide Crystals (left) and Microdelivery Peel Step Two is Lactic/Salicylic Acid Activating Gel (Right).

Vitamin C Peptide Crystals

This product has the consistency of a microdermabrasion scrub and an energizing Orange Juice scent. It yields a warm, tingling sensation to the skin that goes away after a few seconds. Sensation's tolerable, at least to me, but I don't use this set when my skin is feeling particularly tender or inflamed.

Lactic/Salicylic Acid Activating Gel

This is a clear, thick gel that reminds me of hair serums. It is fragrance- free.

Since this gel has acid, it yields an even warmer sensation to the skin, but again, it is tolerable and goes away after a few seconds.

PHILOSOPHY THE MICRODELIVERY PEEL IN ACTION

So how does the two work? I grabbed this photo of mine from another blog post about Philosophy-I have accidentally deleted some of my "in action" shots of this product. :(

Anyway! First, spread a thin layer of the Vitamin C Peptide Crystals onto your skin, as if you're just spreading facial moisturizer-don't rub it in because it is not meant to be a facial scrub even if it feels like one. Leave this on the skin for two minutes before moving on to the second and final product.

Lastly, apply a sheer layer of Lactic/Salicylic Acid Activator on top of the first product and then gently blend both products until they produce a warm foam. Do this for 1 minute and then rinse off.

Methinks that the first product is meant to soften dead skin cells and the second product is meant to peel 'em all off effortlessly.

The Microdelivery Peel reveals smooth skin and evens out skin tone, but I think it noticeably produces glowing skin above all. In under 5 minutes, it turned my dull skin into something really nice and bare- worthy. I've used it for 3 months at twice a week usage and I would say that it's a lovely and quick solution to faking that glow. It leaves skin supple despite the fact that it's a peel (absolutely no dry, taut feeling-not even a tinge!) and has no downtime.

This is a pretty good product and thanks to this, I somehow experienced how peels work-I said somehow because this is very gentle and it's not how I envisioned peels to be. I know for a fact that peels are twice as effective than facial scrubs and this product edges out the latter for a point or two only. Well, it couldn't be as strong as true blue peels because it can be purchased anytime without a doctor's prescription.

The Microdelivery Peel, to me, is basically scrubbing without the grittiness and getting a rejuvenating facial at home and in under 5 minutes. This product worked very well for some people to a point that they treat it as HG-it worked okay for me, but I was looking for something else aside from the usual smooth and glowing effects.

I wouldn't recommend this product to you if you have Rosacea, hyper sensitive skin, or any skin condition that is triggered by self- heating products. This product is for you if you hate manual scrubbing and you can't seem to get glowing skin from your usual facial scrubs.
