As much as I hate writing about negative stuff on my blog, I strongly feel that I have to address this issue that I am going to tell you guys today-it is clearly MISREPRESENTATION and I just want to clarify through this post that I am not affiliated with this brand and company in any way.

Two of my regular readers, Rizza, Franco, and Jhessica, messaged me, respectively and alerted me about this ad that featured my photo, which is from my Obagi blog post. Jhessica, in particular, said that she was surprised to see me in an ad and thought that I was endorsing some beauty product/service so she clicked on it and it led her to this website called Hydroface.
I won't go into detail what the eff Hydroface is and who the eff are the people behind this-all I want everyone to know is that I have no idea what Hydroface is, who invented it, and I do not know anything about or anyone from the company that manufactures/distributes it. I only found out about this product through my readers and sadly, it was in an unfortunate way and no, they did not ask my permission to use my photo.

How you do one thing is pretty much how you do everything. How can you trust this company if they can't be honest with something so simple as a photo? I tried reaching them, but they did not share their telephone number and email address in the website (WHY?!?!). I wish Dr. Diwata Libongco or whoever invented this product sees this post and takes down that ad with my photo on it. You've been warned.

You guys know me. If I am endorsing something, I am transparent about it and I inform everyone. For future reference, if I don't talk about endorsing a particular company and you don't find any information about it on my blog, then that only means I am not affiliated with it or I have no idea that it existed.
I am so sure that this is just one of the many unprofessional companies who stole my photos and used them in their ads as well as the photos of other people, Blogger or non-Blogger. So if ever you spot me in another ad, kindly inform me and I'll let you know if I am currently affiliated with the company/product or not. Thank you in advance and thank you very much, Rizza, Franco, and Jhessica for the concern-love you guys. :)

If they want to have customers, they must make sure that the products are worth trying/ buying and have a legit ad. It's not right to use someone else's photo without the consent of the owner.
ReplyDeleteHope the owner of the site removed your photo as soon as possible.
Btw, Ms. Martha please beware to the online sellers who are selling fake products while using the blog photos and posts as testimonials.

ReplyDeleteThat seems to be the modus this month, using photos from beauty bloggers to peddle products (both real and fake, all unauthorized). As in this week, I've read at least three bloggers with a similar complaint. Nagiging common practice na ata, and it has to be stopped.
ReplyDeleteI actually also saw it because of Dawn Zulueta. Upon browsing, I saw the ads and I really thought you were endorsing pala! It's a good thing that I didn't buy! Thanks a lot for this post. I appreciate every sentiment of your blog. (^....^)

I also experienced this! nakakaloka! my readers messaged me, sbi nila they saw my before and after pic from a bb cream review in a bbcream brand in a small mall in fairview. T.T Alam ko gnun din si Celline. This is so disappointing tlaga. T.T kung confident sila sa product nila, dapat hindi sila ngnanakaw ng post ng iba. hence, gusto lng tlga nilang manloko.
ReplyDeleteI saw this too, but by the time I realized who it was and was about to take a screenshot, I already clicked another link! Hate that this happens but it sucks naman to need to put a watermark across your face or on all your photos just to ward them off.
ReplyDeleteI know scams like this. Those companies should not be trusted. Sa ganyang bagay pa lang, nagsisinungaling na. Pano pa kaya sa mga services nila? To think na facial services pa inooffer nila. Sensitive. Anyway, alam ko marami ding ganyang ads sa mga slimming products. :/ Sana lang they won't sell it na lang if they're not sure kung effective yun or hindi.
ReplyDeletei saw Nikki's post about a similar thing too... a lot of sites use other people's pictures to get visits and to fool other people... *sigh* i also know of a friend's wedding photo used in some weight loss ad... and somehow there's next to nothing the owners of the photos could do because it's very hard to contact the people using the photos...
ReplyDeleteHi girls, I appreciate the concern. Best thing to do always is to verify such things with the concerned individual. Some might be doing it to scam others, while some are trying to make a decent living, but are just plain irresponsible. Either way, it's best to verify first!
ReplyDeleteHi sis, I saw this on fb and upon checking it. It's really deceptive.. http://poshnews2.net/Mariane/index.php?a=389&c=1385&o=HYDROFACE&s1=FBD15MRCMARIANEHYDROPHW2655&s2=&s3=&s4= and almost anywhere you click, it leads to the ordering site. Maybe you can contact them here http://www.hydroface-asia.com/phbbopdar/
