THE VERDICT:

If there's a movie that will best represent my life for the past two months, it would be "Sleepless In Seattle." For the record, I'm not an insomniac-it's just that I had to accomplish a ton of things at work and at home, but it's starting to ease up now. First Quarter work avalanche, I guess and I bet you've experienced some form of it too at the start of the year, just like me!

I was told that sleeping late and not having enough sleep are not good for the skin. Yep, agree, but not everyone has the privilege to sleep early and have a full 8 for a straight week. I believe everyone's trying to get great sleep, but life just happens. In times like this, you gotta be thankful for skin care brands and products that fake a good night's sleep or take care of your skin as you take care of your life like Kiehl's Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum, a serum that infuses your skin with hydration and takes away dullness and dryness to conceal the fact that you slaved all night just to finish that powerpoint presentation.

KIEHL'S DERMATOLOGIST SOLUTIONS HYDRO-PLUMPING RE-TEXTURIZING SERUM CONCENTRATE IN DETAIL

One of the newest products in Kiehl's premium Dermatologist Solutions range, this serum is inspired by dermatological hydration procedures and promises to target Age Related Dehydration, the culprit behind dull, dry, and tired- looking skin, and treat fine lines and wrinkles. It contains Shiso Leaf that penetrates skin layers and hydrates skin at the cellular level, and Glycerin that attracts moisture and keeps the surface hydrated. It has a 'bursting' texture and claims to have the ability to anchor moisture onto the skin for up to 72 hours.

Ingredients

More about this 20's skin- friendly serum after the break.

This serum has a unique texture: Initially, it feels like a silicone primer and as you massage it onto your skin, it slowly transitions to a watery, emulsion- like texture. It's light, non-sticky, and totally mess- free. Kiehl's explained that this dual phase, 'bursting' texture protects the star ingredients, Shiso Leaf and Glycerin, and ensures that they're only activated upon usage. It is wax and cream- free, and unscented so yay for those, but it is high on polymer so test it out first if you have sensitive skin or you're sensitive to this particular ingredient.

KIEHL'S DERMATOLOGIST SOLUTIONS HYDRO-PLUMPING RE-TEXTURIZING SERUM CONCENTRATE iN ACTION

I've used the serum for two straight months at once a day usage-take note that I took this photo on a particular day wherein I did not get enough sleep and the serum did a good job at covering that up for me, although it took me about 1 1/2 months to notice that it was fixing my skin. Other significant effects I've observed are:

1.) My skin felt more elastic and bouncy.
2.) I know it does not promise to heal acne, but I noticed that my breakouts were tamed when I was using this product. Oh, hydration is truly the key to gorgeous skin!
3.) My skin looked perpetually dewy.
4.) Can be used under makeup

I have a small, horizontal line on my forehead (NOOOOOO!!!!) and sorry to burst the bubbles of some people here, but I did not feel and notice that this serum has fixed that in any way-this is just more for addressing tired, dull, and semi- dry skin.

Okay, let's backtrack for a little: You might be wondering what the heck is Age Related Dehydration, which I mentioned earlier in this post. According to Kiehl's, it's an imbalance of moisture in the skin that causes accelerated aging, dullness, and lifelessness. Dehydration, in general, is a common sign of aging and it's the first sign to appear in women (and men, too) in their 20's, and I believe this serum is perfect for me and my batch mates in this age group. However, I find its texture a bit too light and effect a bit too gentle to address the needs of more mature skin types, most especially those who are dealing with severe dryness.

Anyway, to end this post, this serum is for you if you're in your 20's and your skin is exhibiting dullness and dryness due to sleepless nights, stress, or a broken heart because it will just make everything seem alright, even if it's just your skin. Best for oily, normal, and slightly dry skin types due to its texture and formulation. It's pricey but overall, I like it because it's just right for my needs, my skin type, and my age.

  1. First, I'm so excited for your blog anniversary and giveaway! This is my first time to join if ever, and I will surely be following and commenting this blog until forever. haha. Anyway, I've received a sample of this one I think and like you, it didn't work out on my lines. But it did reduce the pimple marks. It also moisturized my face well and it isn't sticky at all. I would definitely purchase if I have the budget. :)

  3. Sleepless in Seattle's Epic! hahaha... Based on your review, it did really well but I wonder if a certain ingredient's fine. I have read in an article that Phenoxyethanol which is a common ingredient found in a lady's cosmetic like Mascara is said to cause Cancer. From then on, I've started to be a bit conscious and "OC" with what I use. Anyway just hope this helps.. Have a nice day po! (^...^)

  4. So this is more like a prevention serum for the face... I think it's great however kinda pricey for me, especially if you're a girl on a budget. Plus I think it has a slower effect based from your review than other products in the same price range.

  5. Ako naman, forever sleepless. And with my age, ahemm, i need something more than this. Kiehl's serum (ang haba ng name) looks like a good product but you are right, it's for girls like you and are at your age. Yun hindi pa nagdedemand ang skin ng extra powerful formulation.
    Advance happy anniversary!

  6. Ive read great reviews about Kiehl's products on the net, actually my girl crush is always using them & mentions how effective the products to her face. I haven't tried any Kiehl's products because of its price. Anyhow, given the chance I would like to use some. I think my face is dry and dull and it really needs Kiehl's magic.lol

  7. I would use this in the mornings under makeup lang siguro, because I don't like the idea of Dimethicone at night. I'm extra praning na baka mag-react yung skin ko, so I'm always sticking to the safe side lately.

  9. I like to hydrate my skin, too! Especially during summer, I have to have the energy before bedtime (sometimes I have to force myself into doing the skin rituals cause I might doze off already) - to put my bedtime regimens. Otherwise, my skin would flake, a sad sad truth.

Anyways, I find KIEHL'S too pricey for me. So, I'm sticking to Neutrogena Hydro Boost line for now.

  11. Glad to know that you're all excited for the giveaway, girls! :D

Abegaill: Hey there! It may not seem like it, but I know those who comment on my blog regularly and support me all the way, with or without prizes so thank you for being a true and loyal reader. I really, really appreciate it! :)

Grace: Hey, if it works for you then stick with it. :) Other products can wait. :) Anyway, I hope you can try this soon because I think it will help you with your flaking problems. :)

Matromao: Oh, are you allergic to Dimethicone or anything related to it? If that's the case, it will just be a good serum/moisturizer/primer for you during daytime. :)

Vin: Thanks. :D Hmmmm....regarding products and ingredients that cause Cancer, my stand is: It is a good practice to exercise caution when it comes to things that we ingest and apply on our bodies, but we should not confine ourselves in a bubble of fear. Life is meant to be enjoyed. We will all die in the end and it would be sad if we didn't get to enjoy in the process. :)

Myunixie: Yup, that's why it's perfect for night owls like me haha :D

Anne: Skin care takes time and that is true regardless if the product is affordable or high end. :)

Flexxy: Kiehl's is one of my HG skin care brands. Let me know how you like Kiehl's when you get a chance to try their products. :)

  12. Age Related Dehydration is scaryyyy! I think its about time for me to serums. I'm 25 and i want to prevent any lines or wrinkles as much as possible. However serums are pricey. i know they are worth it but still. Is there any affordable serum that you've tried that works?
