THE VERDICT:

I just found out that Aloe Vera is dubbed as the "Plant Of Immortality" just because it is apparently LOADED with healing, reparative, nourishing, hydrating, antibacterial, and rejuvenating benefits for the hair, skin, and health. I read that Aloe Vera has over 300 metabolic benefits and the gel extracted from a single leaf yields 75 nutrients, 20 minerals, 12 vitamins, 18 amino acids, and 200 active enzymes. Needless to say, it's a super plant!

Aloe Vera is commonly utilized as a hydrating and moisturizing ingredient in the world of cosmetics, but I treasure it the most now as a healing ingredient: Last week, I kinda' felt that my immune system was going down: body was feeling a bit heavier than usual, my usual loads in the gym felt unusually heavier, head's feeling a bit heavy, and I got a cough and another cold sore episode.

Cold Sores are caused by a certain bacteria and usually triggered when the body is under stress (e.g. menstruation (for women) and weakening of the immune system)--mine pops out of my lips and lasts for about a week; It starts out as a cystic pimple and then eventually develops into a pustule that may rupture anytime as it approaches its final days-I hate it when the latter happens because aside from it being the most painful stage, the cold sore's at its most contagious as well.

I researched about the best natural remedies for Cold Sores and sources pointed to the good ol' Aloe Vera plant. I remembered that I have Aloe Derma's Pure Aloe Vera Gel and applied it on my cold sore one night and the next day, it was gone, just like magic. Whoa! I'll tell you all about this new favorite healing salve of mine. :)

ALOE DERMA ALOE VERA GEL IN DETAIL

Aloe Derma is a 99.7% certified organic skin care line from the USA and manufactures skin care products and supplements made with pure Aloe Vera that they personally cultivate in their own plantations for strict quality monitoring.

Aloe Derma Aloe Vera Gel is an all- around salve made from pure Aloe Vera Gel that can be used to beautify and condition the hair and skin, and treat minor to semi- major skin irritations such as cuts, insect bites, rashes, skin ulcers, and psoriasis. It comes in two sizes: 45g and 100g.

More about this healing gel after the jump!

This is an unscented gel with a slightly bouncy texture and gets absorbed easily, leaving the skin feeling fresh and hydrated. This product just makes Aloe Vera usage more bearable because if you've smelled pure Aloe Vera gel that came straight out of the leaf, it smells sooo pungent, like bad underarm odor. :p

ALOE DERMA ALOE VERA GEL IN ACTION

Let me recap that Cold Sores are caused by a certain bacteria and Aloe Vera has tons of antibacterial and healing properties-perhaps that's the reason why my Cold Sore healed overnight with this product! Immediate effects are: it alleviates severe dryness, a symptom of Cold Sore, and yields a protective barrier on the affected area of the lip to shield it from food, dirt, and other bacterial infections.

Please take note that my Cold Sore is bearable and I usually don't need medical assistance to remedy it-what worked for me may not work for you. Please see a doctor if your Cold Sore persists for more than a week and if you have sensitive skin, consult with your physician before using this product.

Aside from healing my Cold Sore, it softened the skin on my lips too, and I felt that it boosted the benefits of my current lip balm. The only problem I encountered was it felt a little weird on the lips, but at least it was tasteless. :p It also did not say if it's good to use on children and by pregnant women.

I also use this product as the following:

Insect Bites Balm: Some bed bugs (surot) feasted on my legs last week and this gel helped alleviate the itch and flatten the bite marks-works on mosquito bites too.

Hair Treatment: I tried using it as a hair leave- in and it was okay: it kept my hair soft the entire day, albeit it cannot mask the smell of sweat and smoke so I reverted to my trusted hair leave- in oils. Instead, I sometimes use it as a night time treatment for the hair by applying a generous amount on the brittle, dry fringes--It's a bit sticky when applied on the hair though so don't apply too much!

Body Moisturizer: This gel can substitute as a lotion! Its gel, non- clogging, fast- absorbing, fresh texture battles dryness and all the nuisances that come with it such as itchiness and tautness.

After Sun Gel: It has a gentle, alcohol- free formulation that will help you deal with sunburn, especially when your skin starts peeling-this part sucks and this gel will make it a lil' less sucky for you. :D

Aloe Derma Aloe Vera Gel has just reinforced the fact that Mother Nature is the best healing source, ever! I am so happy for I have found a gentle and natural all- around salve, and most of all, an effective cold sore reliever in this product. This is a keeper and it will surely be on top of my head whenever that darned Cold Sore strikes!

  2. Aside from what you've mentioned, aloe vera gel is good for nappy rash, too! I just did not know what the pure gel from the leaf smells like. Good thing you warned me, haha! Kidding aside, Aloe Derma deserves to be bought because it is multi-tasking and efficient.

  5. I'm using aloe vera for my acne and acne marks. My mom said it can cure acnes so I did really try it . I'm using a real organic aloe vera plant that me and my mom were raising in our garden, It's very effective but inconvenient to use since you have to cut it and do this and that before you can apply it. So I definitely gonna try this one. Thanks for the informative post.

We had aloe vera in our backyard before and she said its really good for the scalp, it prevents dandruff and hairfall. I dont see much of the plant anymore, and its nice to know that they have come up with this all natural product with its many benefits. Thanks for the review! Now Im off to hunt for his product!

  12. Aloe Vera is a early good plant, you can use it for hair and body. It's very good to clear up acne and give your face a natural glow. You can also eat it, not tasty but it's also like a antibiotic but very bitter.
