Here's a review on Tony Moly Aloe Gel and Pure Eco Snail Moisture Gel.

THE VERDICT:
Korean brands such as Tony Moly are starting a new skin care trend: Multipurpose Gels. These little pools of moisture are like classic all- around salves and balms, but in a lighter and tropical weather- friendly form. The ones I have are Tony Moly Pure Eco Aloe Vera Gel and Pure Eco Snail Moisture Gel, my best friends as of late because they aid me in my daily moisturizing needs sans the stickiness and heaviness.
TONY MOLY PURE ECO ALOE GEL AND PURE ECO SNAIL MOISTURE GEL IN DETAIL
Mainly for hydrating and keeping the skin moisturized, these gels are made to treat minor skin dryness. Pure Eco Aloe Vera is made with 92% Aloe Vera extracts to hydrate, nourish, and calm the skin thoroughly. Pure Eco Snail Moisture Gel is made with 90% Snail Secretion Filtrate to moisturize skin, especially sensitive skin. Both products are free from Paraben, Mineral Oil, artificial dyes, Triethanolamine, and Benzophenone-5.
These gels come in a 300ml tub, making it perfect for usage around the household; It isn't the most hygienic packaging though. Aloe Vera has a fresh, green citrus scent and Snail Gel has a watery floral scent. Unlike cream and Petroleum- based skin balms, these gels are more fast- absorbing and leave no sticky residue, and they can do whatever the former can do.

Both gels do pretty much the same thing and there's no significant difference between the two, except that Snail Gel is suitable for sensitive skin types and they have slight variations in color and texture. Otherwise, it wouldn't really matter which variant you choose if you only want hydration. I prefer Snail Gel more because it has an emulsion- like texture, therefore it gives me the feeling that it's hydrating my skin better; I know that not a lot of people will like Snail Gel at this point because WTH, it's Snail goo, but I want to tell you that it's a very good hydrator and moisturizer, and the secretion used in this product were sourced from cultured Snails.
As with Aloe Vera Gel, I like mixing it with my DIY beauty concoctions such as homemade facial mask and foot mask. If you have severely dry skin though, please limit your usage of these products as they contain alcohol that will dry out the skin further. Please consult a doctor/dermatologist as well for severe itching, skin irritation, and dryness, and don't treat this product as cure for such skin problems.
It's nice to have one of these moisturizing gels around the household or on your dresser for your anytime moisturizing needs and to soothe minor skin irritations instantly. Personally, I'd recommend Snail Gel, but if you're iffy about slathering Snail secretion on your skin, Aloe Vera Gel will do just fine!

I've always wanted to try out these kinds of gels. Almost every korean brand has their own version of this. My cousin bought a few tubs of this. I think it's working for him, considering he lives in Canada. Very intriguing! Will check this out. Thanks for this post. :)

It's nice to know that Tony Moly keeps pushing on making new and innovative(?) products. since i dont want to try products with snail essence, i'd go for the aloe vera, afterall i'm a fan!aloe vera has the goodies that skin or even hair could benefit (i soak my hair with pure aloe vera whenever i can and my hair would look healthy and bouncy). please please share you diy beauty concoctions Ms. M! :D :D

I think I'd pass on the Snail Gel and would settle for the Aloe Vera gel instead. (^-^) I also am a fan of gels since I do have oily skin and I hate putting on heavy creams on my face. My colleague already has the Aloe Vera gel and she swears that it has made her skin softer and moisturized. Gotta try that one soon!

I am actually seeing a lot of aloe vera gels from different korean brands. I have aloe vera gel from tony moly and nature republic and they seem to have the same effect. The price is relatively the same too. :) I love using it everyday.The tub is huge enough to last for months too. :)
ReplyDeletethat ALOE VERA GEL is always out of stock from their store because it was their BEST SELLER! most of girls out there hoard for more than two to three tubs (backups) whenever i got the chance to get to their store it always happens that they're oos! how unlucky haha.. that gel has many uses (based on reading reviews about it) others order this item from overseas pa.

DeleteHi Nazanin, the gels are moisturizing, at least on my skin. I advised in the blog post that dry- skinned people should limit usage because there is alcohol content and the general skin care consensus is alcohol can dry up the skin. I have provided ample information and my complete experience with the products, and I speak mainly from experience. I also stated that there is at least 90% of the moisturizing ingredients namely Aloe and Snail Gel in the respective products, which gave that moisturizing effect. So even if there is alcohol, the moisturizing ingredients counter the former's drying effect, but then again, it really depends on the skin type of the user whether she will experience dryness or not. We have to realize that skin types react differently.
