THE VERDICT:

Holy Grail Alert!

When Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base was launched sometime a year ago, every gal was practically raving about it like it was the One Direction of eye primers while I was like "How better could it possibly be than UDPP let alone, Smashbox 24- Hour Photofinish Shadow Primer?" Fast forward to last July when NARS launched their first standalone boutique at Central Square, Bonifacio Global City; I got this as a sample and tried it the next day, and I immediately realized "Dammit, Martha. If NARS says it's PRO, you better friggin' believe it." This is one of the best eyeshadow primers in my opinion!

NARS PRO-PRIME SMUDGE PROOF EYESHADOW BASE IN DETAIL

This lightweight, PRO eye primer combats, streaking, fading, and creasing, and improves the color of eyeshadows with Polymer and Mineral- Powder. Charged with antioxidant Rice extract and special- deep sea extract to care for the skin on the eyes.

Ingredients

This primer is actually small and you'd think that "P1350 for this? No frikkin' way", but it's so good that once you try it, you won't mind the price.

Consistency is a very light cream: it's thinner than UDPP, definitely more spreadable than Smashbox's eyeshadow primer, and has a smoother surface than both products. It dries into a smooth, matte finish; I love how the pigments glide easily and effortlessly on this one, thus I love using it when I'm donning color gradation on my eyes. It improves color intensity too. However, I'm not sure if this is suitable for sensitive skin.

NARS PRO-PRIME SMUDGE PROOF EYESHADOW BASE IN ACTION

 Eyeshadow with Nars eyeshadow primer

After 8 hours

Eyeshadow did not crease and streak; it faded, but for just a wee bit. It also prolonged this eyeliner that I'm wearing here that is notorious for fading into my tear ducts.

Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base is beautiful: beautiful quality, beautiful performance. Wish it came in a bigger size though! Putting this product now in the HG section of my makeup kit! ;)

  1. I've been seeing tons and tons of reviews and people saying that this is better than the Urban Decay Primer Potion. I'm still using up my Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer but I will definitely pick this up when I get the chance! Eye primer is very important to me. I have oily eyelids so eye primer is a must. Thanks for this post!

  3. I have UDPP and thought it's one of the best out there since it's the only one that could withstand my oily lids. But after seeing so many raves about Nars primer, I'm seriously consider getting that when I run out of my UDPP.

  5. Since this is way out of my budget, I've been hearing Etude House Proof 10 primer as a duper for the UDPP but since I haven't tried both, then I don't really know XD I don't use eyeshadow primers since I don't wear eyeshadow a lot but I think my eyeliner needs something like this to stay :)

  6. Indeed it made your shadows lasts! Normally, on oily lids like mine, shadows would only last for four hours tops then it would start to crease. Haven't tried that much primers though but thanks for this wonderful review.

  7. I don't think NARS has come up with any product that fails its promise. I've been buying back issues of beauty magazines and have observed that NARS is always a recommended brand. Jeez, what a great investment this should be.

    1. Yes! Really amazed by this primer. Now I'm kinda' regretting that I repurchased a tube of UDPP before trying out this one; I would've had saved money haha!
