THE VERDICT:

I ran to Watsons one time to briefly grab some toiletries then while dashing through one of the aisles, this thing caught my eye. I stared at it for 5 seconds, uttered "Cool", and dumped it in my cart. After my first try, I immediately found another awesome night treatment for my lips in this product. Didn't know that impulse shopping could lead you to awesome beauty products; I guess I should do this often! :D

NIVEA LIP BUTTER ORIGINAL IN DETAIL

Nivea Lip Butter are tins of pocketable, aromatic moisture that give lips the TLC they need. It comes in three variants: Original, Raspberry Rose, and Vanilla Macadamia.

Ingredients

I like the high concentration of Shea Butter in this product. Pure Shea Butter is really good for the lips and this product brings me close to experiencing that.

NIVEA LIP BUTTER ORIGINAL IN ACTION

Consistency is rich and smooth, just like Butter at room temperature. :D It feels creamy on the lips and has a tendency to bleed on the corners, but it feels lightweight. I chose the Original variant because it is unscented and personally, I dislike fragrance in my lip products, especially the ones I use before going to sleep.

The thing with this Lip Butter variant though is it imparts a sheer white color. It can pass off as a lip gloss with frost finish that you can wear alone or on top of lipstick, but honestly, I'd only wear it to bed. :p

I tip my hat to this product's ultra moisturizing effect: it keeps my lips protected the whole night from the freezing air-conditioning temperature. It's so emollient and makes me feel that my lips are being protected effectively that I think I'll bring this with me when I go to a certain country at wintertime. My only problem is the cap tends to get stuck.

Nivea Lip Butter is an effective lip moisturizer and protectant. 'Nuff said. This is one, affordable and accessible lip treatment for night time that I will definitely recommend!

  2. I also have this but in the Vanila Macadamia variant and I only use it at night. It was also an impulse buy for me. Haha! And I ended up loving it. My only complaint is the same as yours: the cap doesn't close completely which is a shame but not much of a big deal. This is a great lip product! I've always loved Nivea lip balms. Thanks for this post! :)

  3. Finally! i got honest review from this one!!! i've been tempting to buy their promo last time (3 variants all for less than 400php -- buying in bulk and in sale makes me happy because i bought them at lower price plus i can share with my other two sibs who loves makeup and skincare too -- thanks to me and ateng promotor hehe) i love to try the raspberry flavored one (im thinking if it is same with the balm i used to buy from TBS that is on the mini tub too)

I always do have cracked lips (at masakit talaga ms m. -- eto yung mga cause ng seryoso ka sa office tapos may biglang magpapatawa tapos ayun punit ang lips haha) i tried treating my cracked lips with toothpaste and petroleum and yes they were pretty good they make my lips pretty soft and well exfoliated =)

Since i am using nivea creme at night i would rather pair it with this balm! =)

    1. Gosh, that 'punit lips' thing, I experience that when I get cold sores and it's not nice. :(

You can actually use nivea creme as a lip balm, but I get that it's a weird concept because we've always seen it as a product for the body. This one is a great choice1 :D

  4. I have one in Vanilla & Macadamia and it smells so good! I literally sleep with the tin beside me. I place it near me so that I can grab it any time and apply some on my lips. I only wear it at night because of the white thingy you mentioned XD I wear Burts Bees lip balm when I'm out since that moisturzes but it feels like nothing on my lips.

  5. If only you made this review while Nivea was having their big sale, I swore I would have bought this! *brb crying* D; I was having doubts whether to purchase this. Now that you have written this review, I regret not buying. Crossing fingers on another Nivea sale, I would definitely buy this one!

  10. I really trust Nivea in terms of the quality of their products. I bought the trio pack of this on Watsons and I;m very glad I did. I think it's just 200+ for the 3. Super savings right, :) I use it overnight to repair my lips. I also use it during the day if I don't want to put lipstick. :)

  12. I have one tin can too! Although I forget to use it religiously, it still works wonders! When my lips are too chapped, I just put this at night and when I wake up, it's already healed! My mom also shares with me and she's loving it to the point that she uses it more often than I do.

  13. Hello Marthaaa! I just LOOOVE this post! My lips are always super dry (just like my skin, *sob*) and I need to wear lip balms and sometimes even lipstick before going to bed just so I wouldn't be bothered my the extreme dryness. But Nivea Lip Butter is so ideal because it's compact, effective, and affordable! Pasok sa budget ko, haha! I will buy this before going to Baguio next month for our annual event para protection sa lamig. Thank you for sharing this!! - Starr
