THE VERDICT:

It takes a lot to shut those pores and regain smooth- looking and feeling skin. Now that my pore problems have shrunk already (by a huge lot!), I make sure to take preventive steps everyday to keep them from enlarging again.

My favorite pore- shutting skin care product is toner simply because it's the easiest to use! However, some pore minimizing toners either sting or dry out your skin so bad. Thankfully, I found Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Pore Minimizing Toner, a gentle toner that keeps my pores out of sight and out of mind. ;)

This new member of the Total Effects range promises to tighten pores, smooth skin, and even out skin tone with a proprietary formula.

The cap on this product stops automatically right before it screws up completely so it won't go flying in the air and disappearing into your-oftentimes-black hole of a house. :p

OLAY TOTAL EFFECTS 7-IN-1 PORE MINIMIZING TONER IN ACTION

This toner is unscented and feels a bit more viscous than water, but it isn't exactly a softening toner/emulsion. It's so gentle, prolly the most gentle drugstore toner I've ever used; I even think I can put this toner in my eyes just because its formula is so, so mild (But DON'T put this in your eyes).

In my two- month usage, I've noticed that it maintained the smoothness on the sides of my nose. I like using this toner after using a nose pore strip. It soothes away redness and itchiness sans irritation and sting!

I recommend this toner as a corrective treatment to those who are suffering from enlarged pores and as a preventive treatment to those who want to keep their skin's smoothness and evenness. Also, get this if you just want a mild toner for everyday use.

  1. I love toners! I have large pores so for me, toners are a must! I love using Dickinson's Witchazel toner but I don't think there is hope for my pores to get smaller. I think I need some medicine for that. O_o hmm. Thanks for this post!

  2. Toner will always be part of my skin care routine, I have tried many products though most of them I find bit drying and some sting also:) Definitely I want to try this one too, I'm a sucker on skin care products so I don't really mind if it pricey because what's important is the quality:) thank for the review!:)

  3. I've always looked for mattifying toners but didn't try to use them to shrink the offending pores in the first place :))

  4. Large pores and uneven skin tone? Those two def apply to me too! I Right now though I still have some Wonder Pore toner at home, I also use Eskinol when I break out and two (or maybe three) more from different brands. While they do help in controlling oil and removing dirt, I cannot say the same when it comes to their effectivity with my pores. So this one from Olay, I am going to try soon! Thanks Miss M!

    1. I've been meaning to try Etude House's Wonder Pore Toner! I heard lots of good stuff about that. :)

  5. It seems unbelievable na may gentle toner pala, the ones I have been using always sting. So does this mean this is okay with people who have sensitive skin? If so, then this could be a lifesaver because it's cheaper than other brands that are specifically formulated for sensitive skin.

    1. Formula is gentle, but it did not say it's suitable for sensitive skin types. :)

  6. This made me laugh today: "I even think I can put this toner in my eyes just because its formula is so, so mild" I'm like, si bakla loka-loka!!

Anyway, I have a bottle of this but haven't tried it yet. The pore minimizer effect is what sold me.

  7. I have acne-prone skin, not to mention large pores on my nose and around the nose area. I feel like I have to choose between having pimples or visible pores whenever I'm trying to pick a toner. :D I'm having this one a go since the formula is mild. *crossing fingers* :)

  8. I'm on my second bottle of Etude House's wonder pore but this is interesting, though expensive compared to Wonder Pore. :) I have small but open pores so I'm doing my best to prevent it from... blossoming? XD

  9. Having big pores is one of my skin problems, more pronounced now kasi I'm maturing. Sucks. I really wanna try this even before, I'm just waiting for testimonials as far as its performance. Hmmm, nice kaya lang may paraben pala ito. So I'm having second thoughts.
By the way, Miss Martha, have you tried using apple cider vinegar as toner?

    1. Yes, enlarged pores is one of the signs of aging. :) Try this one. :)

I heard about apple cider as a toner, but I did not try because it smells so bad! ;p

  10. I find it a bit expensive for a toner. I'm using yves rocher toner and I'm satisfied with the effects. It made my face less oily. I have small pores in the first place so minimizing pores is not a problem of mine. :) Sana lang may smaller version ng Olay toner para matry ko muna if suitable for me. :)

  11. Hello again! I'm enjoying going through your reviews! Aaaand, I have the same problem of having large open pores esp in the nose area. Urgh. :( I would love to try new toner brands esp because I only use Eskinol, hahahahaha! But I think Olay's toner is a bit pricey for me :( But then again, if it's that effective in minimizing pores, I think I'll consider trying it ;) Thanks! ~ Starr
