It's only 1pm and traffic's already looking mad outside. Oh, Manila!

To kill traffic, let me just entertain you today with our FMF from Leslie:

Dear Martha,

Love your blog. Not only does it feature high end products, but drugstore finds as well. I consider myself a beginner in makeup and one thing has been bothering me or confusing me, to say the least. There are so many different types of Face Powder in the market. Can you differentiate each of them please?

Leslie

Hey Leslie,

Thanks for writing. I  feel you. There are so many makeup products right now that you know which is which and which ones to use! That's why us Beauty Bloggers are here: we're here to help you out and that's what I'm gonna do for you today. :)

There are a lot of face powders out there, but I believe that they're only meant to do the same things (that is to mattify skin, blot oil, and set liquid bases) and they're all the same product, but only have varying names. I will list down and define the most common and popular powders that women use.

1. Pressed Powder

- the most common powder; it's everyone's first- ever makeup product when they began their journey in beauty. A pressed powder is used to freshen up the skin and usually lightly tinted to even out the skin tone naturally. It can be used on its own or on top of a liquid base.

2. Loose/Finishing/Setting Powder

- Works just like pressed powder, but only in crushed form. Loose Powder, due to its milled state, gives a softer finish than pressed powder.

3. Blotting Powder

- Usually in pressed powder form, but has a sheerer, virtually invisible coverage. It's usually applied on the T-Zone to blot away oil without adding additional coverage and is usually used in PRO events like photo shoots and fashion shows.

4. Veil Powder

- Veil Powders are almost as sheer as Blotting Powder, but they usually have micro shimmer to give skin a radiant effect; It is applied after liquid base and setting powder, and on areas namely the forehead, bridge of the nose, and cheek apples.

5. Powder Foundation

- The powder with the thickest coverage amongst all mentioned in the list. Powder Foundation is good for oily skin and it's much faster and easier to use than liquid foundation, but yields the same coverage.

Hope this list helped, Leslie. Have a stress- free Friday, guys!
