THE VERDICT:

Kiehl's will always be my HG skin care brand; in fact, I'm back to an all- Kiehl's regimen for this month (or in the next two months depending on what I feel like using :p)-it's been a while since my skin and Kiehl's had a reunion and nice to know that nothing has changed; they still love each other!

Fyi, Kiehl's, in my opinion, has the best selection of toners out there; it's basically toner land. Two of my fave toners (Blue Herbal Astringent and Ultra Facial Toner) are from Kiehl's and this new one will join my list: Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Toner.

Allow me to tell you a bit about Calendula.

Calendula is a flower that is widely used in skin care preparations that dates back to the ancient times; It has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that soothe skin that has been compromised by the weather, infections, environment (e.g. insect bites), and intrinsic conditions. Calendula's generally mild formula makes it ideal for all skin types including normal skin, especially dry skin, and also oily skin because it helps calm inflammation caused by Acne.

When my skin is starting to feel taut, dry, and beaten up by Salicylic Acid- infused products, I switch to Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Toner to give my skin a rest without letting go of the Acne- fighting benefits.

KIEHL'S CALENDULA HERBAL EXTRACT TONER IN DETAIL

A gentle, Alcohol- free toner that helps improve problem areas on oily skin and soothe normal skin types; It cleanses both skin types gently.

Ingredients

KIEHL'S CALENDULA HERBAL EXTRACT TONER IN ACTION

This toner contains real Calendula flowers; makes you really feel that you're getting the real benefits of this precious flower. Just a cool fact: In the style of Kiehl's apothecary tradition, the Calendula petals in this product were inserted in the bottle by hand to ensure freshness and maintain efficacy.

The toner is virtually unscented and has a transparent yellow-gold tint, which is due to the Calendula petals swimming in the solution. Sometimes, a petal gets through the nozzle and onto the cotton pad, and to prevent wastage, I run it across my face to experience the benefits more.

Formula is super gentle; no sting, irritation, itch, whatsoever experienced. I also apply this product on a fresh, throbbing zit to calm it down. It cleanses genuinely and doesn't leave the skin dry, but doesn't hydrate it either; a moisturizer is very much needed after using this product. I also noticed that it helped stall breakouts on my skin, but I don't think it's enough to fight Acne on extremely oily skin and those who are predisposed to it.

Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Toner made me realize that battles can be won without harshness (aka sting, itch, dryness). I think this is a good and milder alternative to Kiehl's Blue Herbal Astringent for mild breakouts.

  1. I'm not really into toners because I'm afraid my face will react violently against them. But I love Kiehl's especially their lovely staff and their acne treatments.

  2. Interesting formula of herbal extracts so it has quality ingredients and delivers a great results indeed! What makes me curious is the calendula petals that are floating around:) Even though it end up in the cotton, its fine with you so it means that it's not a bit annoying to used. Definitely absolutely a must-have toner. Hooray to Kiehl's!
