 THE VERDICT:

I have God knows how many salves at home, from Pawpaw balms, minty ointments, all- around salves, what have you; I don't why, but I like collecting them and I like the idea of having "remedies in handy pots and tubes". Of course, Burt's Bees can never be not part of my collection because it's the brand of salves, good salves to be exact and I'll talk about my faves today.

BURT'S BEES RES-Q OINTMENT, HAND SALVE, AND LEMON BUTTER CUTICLE CREAM IN DETAIL

Res-Q Ointment is a healing salve for skin emergencies such as stings, cuts, and bruises; it contains Comfrey extract that has Allantoin, which helps condition skin and support speedy healing. Hand Salve features botanical Oils in a Beeswax base, one of the best moisturizing agents found in nature. Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream conditions cuticles and improves the condition of dry, brittle nails with Cocoa Butter, Almond Oil, Vitamin E, and Sunflower Oil.

The products come in a charming, vintage tin with a brilliant concept: the cover does not fall all the way to the bottom of pan and the pan curves at the base, giving you a better grip at the product and for easy opening; no need to wrestle with the tin just to open it!

Res-Q Ointment is a huge favorite of mine because it's a gentle, non- sting salve for mosquito and insect bites, itchiness, and mild skin irritations caused by certain allergens found outdoors. What I like best about it is it isn't laced with menthol unlike other, similar products, therefore it's safe for someone like me who tends to rub her eyes after using a salve LOL! The pure, Olive Oil base makes it an effective moisturizing product as well. However, due to the high concentration of aromatic oils in it, I wouldn't put it on cuts and deep wounds; just on minor scratches.

Hand Salve is a weightlifter's best friend. For the past few weeks, I picked up on my Dead lift game and been doing frequently than ever, thus I've been getting more calluses on my palms than ever; this salve does the trick. I apply a generous amount on the rough areas, leave it overnight, and the roughness goes away the next day. It's a wonder treatment for those who do house chores often too!

Lemon Cuticle Butter Cream is for those who tend to get dry skin on on the sides of the nails (ouch!); the high concentration of moisturizing ingredients in this product will keep dry skin to a minimum; I also noticed that with consistent usage, this product gives nails a healthy, natural sheen.

  5. Last week I was looking for a hand salve and tried the banana scented one from Burts Bees. It smells divine, I can't stop sniffing my hands. It comes in a glass jar though so it's a little heavu to carry around.

  10. I've never tried any Burt's Bees products, but I'm eyeing that Res-Q Ointment for its functions. I have skin asthma and since I hand wash my clothes during laundry, my hands take the brunt of irritation. Hopefully their products will work on me! Thanks Ms. Martha.
