 THE VERDICT:

One time, I dropped by Rustans to pick up my HG Mario Badescu Drying Lotion; to my horror, it was out of stock. Dazed and lost, I wandered around the mall, thinking of where to get the exact same alternative because Zinc Oxide, a component of Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, is what really scares my zits away. I decided to drop by Etude House to look for an alternative and picked up Etude House A/C Pink Powder Spot Set. After my first use, I fell in love because it is effective! Found an alternative for Mario Badescu's famous zit zapper!

ETUDE HOUSE A/C PINK POWDER SPOT SET IN DETAIL

This 2-step acne treatment features a clay mask and dual-phase spot treatment, plus free Q-tips. It contains effective pimple- fighting ingredients such as Chamaecyparis Obtusa Water, Salicylic Acid, and Zinc Oxide. It is free from the following ingredients: Mineral Oil, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Polyacryamide, Animal ingredients, Triethanolamine, Synthetic ingredients, and perfume.

 Ingredients

This is part of Etude House's A/C line intended for acne- prone skin; it has been upgraded recently from the ingredients to the product line- up; according to Etude House, they used Chamaecyparis Obtusa (Hinoki Cypress) Water instead of water, making it more effective; Hinoki Cypress is native to Japan and is known for its antiseptic properties. Basically, you've got three main ingredients working double time to prevent and minimize acne: Hinoki Cypress water, Salicylic Acid, and Zinc Oxide.

This isn't my first time to try Etude House's dual- phase spot treatment; I tried it before when it still came in an orange bottle, but it wasn't effective at all. I don't know what they did, but these products have come a long way since our first meeting; they're more effective now!

Pink Powder Mask is a small, concentrated pinkish clay mask with tiny beads that help exfoliate while cleansing the skin; it dries up pretty quickly, no sting, doesn't make skin feel taut and dry after rinsing, rinses of easily, and leaves skin feeling fresh and oil- free. I really feel that this product boosts the effect of the spot treatment.

Both products have a slightly sulfuric smell, similar to Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion.

ETUDE HOUSE A/C PINK POWDER SPOT SET IN ACTION

I use it how I would normally use Mario Badescu: the treatment, every night and the mask, at least twice a week. DO NOT SHAKE THE SPOT TREATMENT; just grab a q-tip and dip it straight in the solution.

I got the set at a timely moment because I was suffering from hormonal acne that time and a cystic zit erupted from nowhere somewhere at my jawline. I applied the spot treatment on the cystic zit as well as on the rest of my zits; the next day, to my surprise, the darned cystic zit was no longer inflamed, sensitive, and it deflated for a bit. WHOOOOOAAAAAA. After four more days of consistent usage, the cystic zit disappeared.

It's been three weeks since I got this set and it's been working perfectly for me. I am just so glad I found this product! I am definitely hoarding this! I wish the mask came in a bigger packaging because I love this stuff; at the moment, it only comes with the spot treatment and in a small size.

Of course I will still repurchase Mario Badescu because it works faster compared to this, but bottomline, both products work for me and Etude House's version is so, so affordable. If you're curious as to how Mario Badescu works, but cannot afford it, try this!

I don't know that there's something like this that could help get rid of the pimples as it come and go for me right now. I am using the acne treatment from Belo right now and it's okay naman but would like to try this one as well.

  11. I have seen nothing but praise for Etude House's AC line! The cushion foundation in this line is a great one to try, it has a nice yellow undertone perfect for Filipina skin, and the green packaging is also something unique. :) I've tried to get my hands on the Gel Moisturizer from this line but it's always sold out! I don't get breakouts anymore, but I do get problematic pimples a few times a year, and pimple lotions in department stores don't do the trick! This product might be a good alternative for that. I also believe they have pimple patches, so I might check those out soon. Thanks for this review Miss Martha! :)
