 THE VERDICT:

Matte eyeshadows can be a pain to use; after years of beauty blogging and coming across various matte eyeshadow from different brands, I how important a good formula is when it comes to choosing this type of eyeshadow; it just goes on smoother, better, and looks lovelier!

Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour is one of the best matte eyeshadow formulas I have tried and Sage is a wonderful formula for those with warm skin; if you're morena and looking for a good forest green matte eyeshadow, this palette has an amazing one!

WHAT IS IT?

Shade and Light Eye Contour contains four color- coordinated, highly pigmented shades in an all- matte finish. Designed to give eyes the perfect contour and complement eye colors. Available in four palettes.

Ingredients

Shade and Light Eye Contour comes in KVD's signature coffin palette; a bit dark in concept, but I like it. :)

L-R: Base, Color, Contour, Highlight

I read that Rust is the best- seller, but for a change I went for Sage; the forest green shadow caught my eye and since I'm on the hunt for a forest green shade that will look great on morena skin tone.

L-R:

Contour- beige with a peach undertone. Great for neutralizing discolorations on the lids for the other shades to appear better and truer.

Color- forest green eyeshadow; great for adding contours on the eyes or for spicing up the look.

Contour- olive greige shade; great for a subtle contour and for deepening the eyes.

Highlight- off white; great for highlighting the brow bone.

HOW IS IT? WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?

Lid Wash- contour shade
Crease color- contour shade
Outer crease color- color shade
Brow bone and lower lid color- highlight color

These are some of the best matte eyeshadows I have tried! Consistency is smooth and silky, almost buttery; it's very easy to blend; they yield fallout, however, but only if you put a lot so build on your lids gradually. It has a staining effect so it's best for those with slightly oily lids, but I still suggest to use a primer to make it last longer.

This palette did not fail me in my quest for a forest green eyeshadow that will look true on warm skin tone; the colors stay true on the skin as it is on the pan.

Overall, this is a great everyday palette; great for travel too because it has easy to wear shades that match almost any outfit or mood I have. Will advise to collect all the palettes? Not really; one is enough!

  1. I have yet to try any KVD palettes. I was very tempted to buy the rust palette but I feel like orange eye shadow is just a trend. I gave in with the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly palette. I ended up de-potting it and decluttered the orange shadows, only keeping the peanut butter shade. I've been lusting on KVD's Shade and Light palette, the original one. It just looks so beautiful! Waaah~

  6. I've read that KVD is really a bomb when it comes to pigmentation. I just wish that I have the guts to experiment with colors. Napaparanoid ako kasi I'm not good with putting on makeup kaya natatakot ako to play with colors. Always akong neutral shade. Can't do smokey eyes pa din until now 😂
