THE VERDICT:
When I hear Modern Matte, I think of a lipstick that has a semi- matte finish and is rich in moisture. One product that fits the bill for me is Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color; it's my favorite modern matte lipstick formula. However, it is quite expensive.
I'm happy to report that I found a good dupe in Jordana Modern Matte lipstick! This is a creamy, pigmented lipstick that gives you a full, vivid pout!
Modern Matte, according to Jordana, is a creamy, moisturizing matte lipstick that won't dry out the lips. It comes in 12 shades.
I hope you don't mind, let's cut to the chase and jump to the swatches!
53 Matte Hibiscus
A hot pink shade. A little too bright for my liking.
54 Matte Poppy
A pale peachy pink shade. Again, another bright shade that's too bright for me.
56 Matte Dahlia
A deep rosy red. Oh, finally, a color that suits my taste. I like how pretty this shade is.
The lipsticks have a semi- hard texture that needs to be warmed up before use; swipe it on for a couple of times on your lips to activate the pigments. Pigmentation is medium to heavy. Finish starts off satin then finishes into semi- matte. Staying power is pretty good: it stays put and comes out gradually after a meal; there are some staining shades like Matte Dahlia.
There are some who dislike the texture of this lipstick because of its semi- hard texture; it can be a bit of a bummer, but a little technique is all you need to get this product going.
What I dislike is the color library of this collection; I find the colors a bit outdated and pinkish; could've used better, more modern shades. Overall, I like the quality of the lipsticks; it's a dupe for Bobbi's fave lipstick of mine, although there's a tad bit difference in quality. Nevertheless, Modern Matte's quality is passable.

I like the modern matte concept. I just wish, as you said so as well, that they'd choose more modern shades for this (given the Modern Matte name and all). Thanks for this, Ms. Martha!
ReplyDeleteWow po, gusto ko Po shade nito, meron pa Naman Po iva shade nito ma check ko din Po iba.
ReplyDeleteyay, thanks sa review. Deep rosy red lang for me since morena here😊 Too bright ang dalawa😊
ReplyDeleteI love the Matte Dahlia on you too! As for the others it reminds me of Barbies pink lips LOL!
ReplyDeleteThere was a time when i was into peachy pink shades but now, i prefer pinkish browns. The Jordana lipstick in Matte Dahlia looks nice on you. I think it looks sexy, too!
ReplyDeletethey're all fab! well it is expensive but worth it dba!
ReplyDeleteMatte Dahlia is such a pretty shade! Looks good on you too.
ReplyDeleteI agree with u Ms. Martha I like the color but not that much, the only catch my eyes is the Red shde which is Dahlia and it's really suits on you well Ms. Martha, even their name is not that unique, overall it's good...as you said its passable as well as to me!
ReplyDeleteI love Matte Dahlia because i love red and you looks so sexy while wearing it Ms. Martha
ReplyDeleteI'm not into bright pink shades of lipstick. I have fair skin but I don't feel comfortable wearing bright and loud pink kind of lipsticks. I don't know why but it feels like it doesn't look good on me. Btw, the Matte Dahlia looks good on you, makes me wanna try it.
ReplyDeleteNudes, browns, mauve ....calling all the earthly tone please join Jordana on this range.
ReplyDeleteSuper love the Matte Dahlia!I'm really fond of this kind of shade because it's very empowering & wearing it gives me strength albeit superficial. What we wear outside affects how we feel within, right?
ReplyDeleteTexture is somewhat similar to Loreal Color Riche which also starts as satin and finishes off as semi-matte.
Might as well grab a few of this lippies. :)
Dupes are love. its like you've spotted a gem! Would love to try this supposingly they have a wide range of shades to choose from.
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you think of this post! :)
