4 Ways to Maximize Calorie Burn While Exercising

Believe it or not, you're not burning as much calories as you think when you're working out; I've talked with some trainers and they say that exercises may suggest a specific number of calorie burn, but this depends highly on how much effort an individual exerts and how much each body expends calories.

Now I don't mean to make you quit working out nor salvage your fitness journey; it's just the way it is! But great news, there are actually techniques that let you maximize every workout and increase calorie burn without spending longer hours in the gym (won't recommend that too because there are studies that show longer hours in the gym does not equate to more calories burned!).

Here are four that I swear by!

1. SUPPLEMENT THE BURN

- There are workout supplements that aid in better calorie burn; they come in the form of pre- workouts and post- workouts. As for me, I prefer using something that's generally made with natural ingredients like Kilo Off. Kilo Off is a BFAD- approved weight loss supplement from Europe. These are made with plant ingredients that are known to help decrease weight or maintain a healthy weight.

There are two variants: liquid and powder. Kilo Off Liquid comes in the orange variant (helps keep stomach flat) and purple variant (helps burn fat). Kilo Off Powder is my preferred one because aside from the citrus, orange juice- like taste, it has a 4-in-1 action (burn fat, drain water and toxins, reduce cravings, and keep stomach flat). Read more about it HERE.

For me, Kilo Off is best- taken before a workout because most of the ingredients help boost the metabolism; this coupled with exercise will definitely increase your metabolic activity, thus increasing calorie expenditure.

But please take note when taking workout supplements, make sure that you don't have any existing health conditions, have talked to a physician regarding product usage, you introduce intervals in between usage, and follow product directions to the letter.

2. FINISH HIIT GOOD

- In exercise, short and sweet is ideal. Have you heard of finishers? These are quick yet intense mini workouts that you add at the end of your workout. For familiarity's sake, let's call it HIIT. HIIT or High Intensity Interval Training is proven to burn additional calories and also helps the body burn more after the workout. This is why in Crossfit, the Metabolic Conditioning (also HIIT in format) portion is always the last!

As a final touch to your workout, do a 10-15- minute HIIT in TABATA format, like the instructions in the info graphic: 40 seconds intense/exercise, 20 seconds rest then do them for a couple of sets. Enjoy the burn!

3. MAKE EVERY REP COUNT

- In exercise, less is more too. A lot of people think that the more reps you do, the more calories you burn, but that isn't always the case! Focusing on high volume oftentimes lead to improper form and substituting, which may mean you're not burning as much as you should. So make every rep count by focusing on it because trust me, when you insist on doing every rep properly, you'll surely feel the burn!

4. DON'T BE AFRAID OF WEIGHT

- Have you heard of the term EPOC? It means Excess Post- exercise Oxygen Consumption. This is also known as the after burn effect. This is the state where the body recovers after a workout and it consumes a lot of calories! In fact, EPOC burns more calories than during a workout! Weightlifting is known to send the body into the state of EPOC so if you want to burn even if you're just sitting down, pack on the weights in your next workout!

P.S. Prioritize proper form, always!

I hope you learned something new today. :)
