The beauty industry was revolutionized by Beauty Blender when they unveiled their innovative makeup sponge; it sparked a newfound love for the good ol' sponge; and then here comes Real Techniques that challenged Beauty Blender's fame with their own innovation and affordable price point. About 5 years ago, these brands shaped the makeup tools industry; they also remain as the best makeup sponges rolling out of almost everyone's lips and we are here to find out which one is really the best, according to my experience.

THE LOWDOWN

Beauty Blender is an iconic makeup sponge known for its signature teardrop shape and shocking pink hue. It promises to deliver an air- brushed, flawless finish...without an airbrushing machine.

Real Techniques is an award- winning makeup sponge known for its signature flat edge and bright orange color.

QUALITY

Beauty Blender and Real Techniques both have a plush feel, smooth texture, and made with latex- free material. No rubbery odor with the two! When it comes to the color, Beauty Blender does it for me, plus I love that there are a lot of color options now, including a colorless one for sensitive skin.

Beauty Blender is around P900 while Real Techniques is around P480, current SRP.

PERFORMANCE

Beauty Blender's rounded body is the secret behind its airbrush finish promise; it also doesn't expand too much, making it good for blending foundation in tight corners and spot blending.

Real Techniques tends to grow a bit bigger than its average size, much bigger than Beauty Blender. It's time efficient because I get to cover a lot of areas in one go, but proves to be quite a struggle to use when blending foundation on facial corners; but I like the flat edge feature so much because it's very effective in spreading thick foundation and applying powder.

WINNER: IT'S A TIE!

DURABILITY

Beauty Blender lasted me for about 2 years; Real Techniques started to crumble on the 3rd month.

Both sponges are pretty good; I actually like both because they serve very different tastes and makeup application styles; but there can be only one winner and that is:
