THE VERDICT:

Chemical exfoliants are one of the staples in a K-Beauty routine. Research has shown that skin benefits in a lot of ways with micro-exfoliation through peels; aside from getting rid of old skin, chemical peels can help speed up the healing process of pimples and scars, can help balance out the skin, and is a much gentler alternative to manual exfoliation; as one of the leaders in innovative beauty, no wonder the Koreans love it!

Neogen is one the popular Korean brands; one of their main selling points is their proprietary distilling process of plant and flower extracts for their products, resulting to highly potent preparations. Bio-Peel pad is one of their best- selling products and I'm here to tell you that if you want super smooth and crystal- like skin, this is the solution!

Instructions. Unfortunately, there's no ingredient list in the packet; there probably is, but it's most likely in Korean.

The pads actually come in this size; there are three variants: Lemon, Wine, and Green Tea.

I got Lemon and Wine peeling pads. The pad has two sides: the first one is a smooth side; it's meant to spread the product all over the face.

The second side is a textured one to aid in the exfoliation process.

Both variants feature Reservatrol, an effective anti- aging derivative; it also functions as an AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid), which is the main chemical exfoliant in the ingredients; maybe this is why the pads smell a bit like wine!

Consistency of the peel pads' solution is almost watery. You definitely feel that there's alcohol in the ingredient, but the solution does not sting at all.

How I use this pad:
1. I remove my makeup with makeup remover and water2. I pat my skin dry and let it dry up some more3. I use the pad and scrub my fave for at least 2 minutes4. I leave the solution on for about 3 minutes
I read reviews saying that some people treat this as a makeup remover, which I wouldn't recommend because it is not meant for that and it doesn't contain ingredients that will help remove makeup; in short, you're just going to waste the pad.

Here's my face after using the pad; it's looks sooo transparent, refined, and glowing!

Between the two, I personally love Wine more (in fact, this is the popular variant) because after about 10 minutes, I see some white rolls coming off my cheeks, which gives me this feeling that the product is doing its magic; Lemon is okay, but I didn't see white rolls after using it; I guess the formula is pretty mild and best for those with little to no problem with rough skin.

The pads provide immediate smoothness, transparency, and glow to the skin; I've used 5 pads already and my skin looks much smoother now compared to the effects of manual exfoliation; there's also little dryness experienced compared to using manual scrubs. I've also noticed that with chemical exfoliators, skin care absorbs much better and pimples heal much faster too!

Just some precautions based on personal experience:
1. Use sunscreen because chemical exfoliation can make skin sensitive to the sun.2. I suggest don't use it before applying makeup because the acid content may cause makeup to run off, turn patchy, or look dry.3. Allow intervals in your usage to give skin a break from exfoliation.4. Consult with a physician before usage if pregnant or if you have sensitive skin or other skin conditions.

I'm now a believer of chemical exfoliation and Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Pads are great options! Now I know why this is a best- seller: it's convenient and effective! I highly recommend the peel pad in Wine!

  1. Ahhh! I wanna try. I am so much into skincare nowadays. Btw thanks for the precaution not to use without sunscreen and under make up. Which means this is best applied at night. How I wish we could know the ingredients though.
