THE VERDICT:
So Australis just landed in the Philippines bringing along a slew of products! It's a lot of products for a new brand and while it's confusing to some, I find it exciting! That means more stuff to play with! What I also like about Australis is they brought in with them makeup brushes; it's hard to find fairly affordable brushes in department store and drugstore brands.
Let's check out three of their makeup brushes today!
If I'm not mistaken, Australis has about 8 or 10 brushes available locally; there's an equal ratio between eye and face brushes. We have right here three face brushes: Buff Me Kabuki Brush, Woke Up Like This Foundation Brush, and Seal the Deal Powder Brush.
First off, love the cute names of the brushes. Second, I like the rubberized handle, which gives me a more solid group on the brushes; reminds me of Real Techniques' brushes. However, my experience with that is overtime, the rubberized bristles tend to flake away and feel extremely sticky; I hope it's not the same case with these.
Australis makeup brushes are made with vegan synthetic fiber; they're 100% cruelty- free so hurrah! These are incredibly soft, fluffy, and dense. The Kabuki powder is perfect for overall bronzing or setting foundation; the foundation brush is soft and has the right density to blend a wide variety of liquid foundation formulas. Lastly, the tapered power brush is perfect for spot application of powder, especially on the t-zone, but too big for tight areas like the under eyes and lids; this can also be used as a blush brush.
The packaging is nice: it's a sturdy carton with a solid styrofoam- like base where the brush rests; I just had a hard time pulling out the foundation and power brush, hence the kink on the powder brush.
The bristles have no odor and when I washed them, there was shedding, especially with the kabuki brush. I did the tug test on the brushes and they held up.
Overall, these are pretty good individual brushes; they're dense, soft, have good quality, and most especially, cruelty- free!
