THE VERDICT:
I'm quite familiar with BTLA as they've sent me a bunch of stuff last year, but in terms of having deep knowledge about the brand, that I don't have; it is because it's fairly new not only here, but abroad as well as I haven't seen enough write- ups and features about the brand; in fact, when I searched BTLA, I was shown results for a tumor called as such.
The unknown always excites me so even if I don't have a lot of idea about the brand, I gave the products a shot because they look very promising, specifically BTLA Luminous Highlighter Drop.
BTLA stands for Beauty Treats L.A. and I learned that is is under L.A. Girl; it's their sister brand and a much more affordable one at that; at least there's some credibility to the brand.
Luminous Highlighter Drop comes in two shades: pink and gold; both almost have metallic finish already while. It's very pigmented, obviously, and a little drop is enough to produce very good color payoff. Pink is for fair skin while gold is for medium to warm skin tones. The highlighter is unscented.
Here I am wearing gold on my cheek bone. The formula is more watery than creamy and I find that it's quite hard to spread without leaving glitter patches on my skin so the best way is to dab it on. It's not ideal to be applied on top of powdered skin because it will cake. You can also mix this with a matte foundation or primer to add a streak of radiance. As for the highlighting effect, I was expecting it to be more intense given the pay off on the hand swatches, but it turned out to be very natural- looking; it's buildable though up to a certain point so those who like sporting a strobe may like it.
Is it worth it? I find it okay given the price; it's very affordable and in fact the most affordable liquid highlighter I've encountered; great for those who are just starting out with makeup. It just needs a bit of work and getting used to the formula and when you do, it will turn out fine!
Have you tried BTLA cosmetics already? What are your thoughts?
