THE VERDICT:

Beauty forecasts for 2019 have been saying that contouring will die down for a little in favor of highlighting; good for them, but for me, contouring is life and contouring is here to stay!

Kat Von D's Shade and Light palette is what opened me to the possibility that contouring can actually be more than art, but also science as it taught me that the shadows and highlights on the face have different tones, therefore the contouring powders you use should too; since learning this, my contours have gotten more natural and I'm now always on the lookout for contouring palettes that offer varying shades of shadow and highlight; one of which is Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit.

In this review, find out why this palette is perfect for Filipinas, for creating a more natural contour, and for addressing certain discolorations on the skin (whoa!).

Ingredients
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit features 6 highlighting and contouring shades in warm and cool tones to match your skin tone as it changes throughout the year. The shades come in matte and shimmer finishes.

There are two color combinations available: Light to Medium and Medium to Tan. If you have noticed, there are slots on the sides of each pan; this is because the palette is customizable and you can mix and match the powders in the pan or take out one and stick in a customizable magnetic palette in case you only want to bring one of these while traveling. With Contour Kit, you can either customize or go for the pre-made palettes for convenience.

I have the medium to tan palette and here are the pre- selected shades inside: For the contouring powders, there's Espresso, Havana, and Nutmeg. For the highlighters, there's Peaches and Cream, 10k (shimmer), and Machhiato.

ESPRESSO- Mediu taupe shade (matte)
HAVANA- deep brown (matte)
NUTMEG- light ochre (matte)
PEACHES AND CREAM- medium warm beige with peach undertone (matte)
10k- soft gold (shimmer)

The powders have a smooth, silky matte texture, very little fallout, and pigmented; the matte shades are surprisingly smooth with no drag and even payoff.

Havana (contour) + 10k (highlight)
There's one shimmery highlighter in here so no need for a separate shimmer highlighter if have this palette.

As for the contouring shades, I like that there are options for when your skin gets warmer and lighter; so far, I'm using Havana and Espresso often; during summer, I'd probably use Havana more.

As for the highlighter, there are two mattes and one shimmer; the shimmer highlighter is a beautiful universal gold that can be layered on if you want to increase intensity.

Aside from being a year- round, customizable contouring kit, what I love about it is the powders double as correcting products too. For example, I use Peaches and Cream as a base before baking to correct the appearance of dark under eye circles. For mild skin discolorations, I dust Nutmeg on top of them for a little correction.

This is a good buy because it's long- lasting, there are lots of shades to play with and choose from, plus the contouring and highlighting powders are pretty long- lasting. Next time, I'd probably go for Light to Medium palette or customize my own; Medium to Tan is more like Tan to Deep and there are one or two shades that are too dark for my skin tone. Nevertheless, Anastasia Contour Kit is a good concept, a spendthrift's ideal palette, and a contour lover's must- have because it provides a more customized contour.
