There are some products that don't necessarily sweep you off your feet in the beginning, but when you get back to it after some time or after giving it a few tries, it seems like some sort of magic happens and all of a sudden, you realize that the products are actually good; all you had to do was just give it a chance.
Here are some of the products that were either meh or okay in the beginning, but after a few tries, I finally found the good in them. I'm also sharing the tricks I did that made me end up liking these products!
LUSTROUS
Nadine Lustre's makeup line got as much flak as praise when it was launched; the one product that people did not like the most was the lip and cheek tint; a lot found it muddy, too dark, and patchy.
TRICK: For the lip and cheek tint, it's best used on the cheek and applied using a dabbing motion. Both product look amazing on the cheek, especially if you're a morena!
KAT VON D LOCK IT POWDER FOUNDATION
KVD's Lock It line is famous for its long- lasting face products, but as with all makeup lines, there are bad apples. To me, it was the powder foundation; apparently, I wasn't the only one who thought that this isn't good; I had friends who bought it and found it mediocre as well. This powder foundation has really nice coverage, but isn't long- lasting...AT ALL. My face would get very oily after just 1 hour, and I also noticed that it makes me even oilier.
TRICK: Wayne Goss' foundation trick works well with product; apply primer then lightly dust an oil- controlling translucent powder all over before applying this powder foundation. Voila! Your KVD powder foundation will now last the whole day.
TARTE AMAZONIAN CLAY BLUSH
Tarte's famous blush has enough good and bad reviews; I bought it because they said that this is really long- lasting and great for oily skin. However, I found its texture too dry to be blended properly on the skin.
TRICK: The trick is in the blush brush! It's best to use a short, dense blush brush to pick up product and blend the blush properly on the skin. Since the texture has clay, it tends to feel dry and sets fairly quickly than most blushes, making it hard to blend and a short brush gives you more control and allows you to exert more force to blend the product to perfection.
TOO FACED SWEET PEACH EYESHADOW PALETTE
One of Too Faced's most popular eyeshadow palette. A lot of people love palette because it is one of the first peach- themed palettes that came out and has set an example for all peach palettes that followed. It's a nice palette, but I find it too basic for the price, plus some shades don't perform well, especially the matte shades.
TRICK: Use a good primer with the eyeshadows. As for the matte eyeshadows, pile it on and apply in a dabbing motion, not a swiping motion because this will just sweep away the product.

ReplyDeleteI have pink sugar lip and cheek tint in posh purple I look sad and gloomy when I applied it on lips but, on cheeks I look effortlessly chiseled.
