TBJ TRAVELS CORON 3: Best restaurants in Coron

Best restaurants in Coron, Palawan

Any trip is incomplete without a list of the best gastronomic destinations and secrets in each city. For our last day in paradise, let me share with you some of the best restaurants that we have tried; we've tried various cuisines with varying prices, from affordable to expensive.

EPIC COFFEE (Coffee, Continental)
Budget: PP

If you're craving for a pressed cup of joe that comes in many flavors, drop by Epic Coffee; it's one of  the (if not the only) few posh coffee shops in Coron.

Must- try are Seasalt Caramel Latte and New York Cheesecake. If you need an jolt of energy, try their keto/bulletproof coffee.

I also learned that their first branch is in Pasig; it's not a town- grown restaurant; that's a plot twist for ya.

Epic Coffee is located at Real st., Coron Town Proper, Coron

PEDRO'S GELAT (Gelato, dessert)
BUDGET: P

Pedro's is a quaint Gelato place that got lots of good reviews and recommendations at Tripadvisor. My favorite is Chocnut Gelato! It's a great quick dessert place or anytime you want to cool down from the island heat.

Pedro's Gelato is located at Busuanga road, Coron town proper, Coron

LOS GUAPOS (Mexican)
BUDGET: P

Los Guapos
A nice Romanian lady whom we've met in one of our tours recommended to us Los Guapos. She loved the burrito there and the fact that food is affordable. On our second day, we dropped by for dinner.

Los Guapos is just parallel to Epic Coffee. You can have dinner here and finish off with dessert and coffee or tea at Epic Coffee.

We ordered Chicken Quesadilla for appetizer; it tastes good; I wouldn't say mind blowing, but just right for the price.

More tacos for dinner! My husband and I ordered Carne Asada and Carnitas tacos for dinner. Since this is affordable, there's more vegetable than meat, but at least the marinade tastes good. The sauce is a tasty garlic/sour cream sauce. 9/10 would go back again because it's affordable and simply because I love Mexican food.

Los Guapos is located at Real st., Coron Town Proper, Coron.

BUZZ (American)
Budget: PPPP

For foodie big spenders, there's Buzz, one of the new diner- type restaurants in town.

Buzz offers American comfort food. Their food is a bit pricey, especially if you're on a budget vacation, but a good final treat before leaving town because it's one of the nicest town- grown restaurants I've tried. Here's their Buffalo wings with a tangy sweet flavor; it's very appetizing and almost filling so better share it with somebody!

Buzz Signature Burger is their best- seller; it's a large burger with greens, caramelized onion, cheddar cheese, and juicy beef patty. It's such a filling meal that I ended up not finishing everything; I actually could have done away with the buffalo wings because this is quite big!

Buzz is located at Burgos st., Coron town proper, Coron.

CARL'S BBQ (Filipino)
BUDGET: PPP

For tasty Filipino grub and some more, go to Carl's BBQ, a favorite of many foreigners in the area because who doesn't love barbecue???

Carl's has calming earthy colors and charming dining areas like this hut.

Carl's BBQ is known for Baby Back Ribs. We ordered the half slab; pretty pricey and I find it a lil' bony to be honest; it's okay. I've had better baby back ribs in Manila for about the same price.

Meanwhile, we loved their sisig! Large chunks of pork ears, pork skin, and pork meat! Love their marinade too! TBH, I recommend this more than the ribs.

Carl's BBQ is located at Coron town proper, Coron.

TRATTORIA ALTROVÉ (Italian)
BUDGET: PPPP

This last restaurant is one of the most recommended in Coron, at least according to the blog posts and travel guides I've read: TRATTORIA ALTROVÉ, a homestyle Italian restaurant.

Their food is inspired by simple, home- cooked Italian meals. For appetizer, we got Insalata Calamari with grilled Calamari; I usually go for fried calamari because I don't like the slimy taste of squid, but this one is cooked pretty well and the balsamic dressing helped mask the taste.

Aglio Oglio Pasta; a classic favorite of mine. Loved the simplicity of this one and the serving of sun- dried tomatoes; it's a great simple dish to have for dinner.

Altrove Pizza. Tomato sauce, real blue cheese, and meat. So good!

Altrove is quite pricey, but another good, final ender to your trip.

And oh, another plot twist: Trattoria Altrové started its first branch in BF Homes Parañaque.

That's it for our Coron travel blog series! I hope you enjoyed!
