THE VERDICT:

My issue with most Korean beauty brands is I can't seem to find a shade that fits; so many types of base, but tragically lacking in shade options. 

During Innisfree's SM Mall of Asia opening, I gravitated towards the foundation display and was pleasantly surprised to see very warm shades of foundation! I couldn't believe my eyes; I thought I was looking at contouring liquids, but they were indeed foundation! I picked up My Foundation 1.5, which had some of the darker shades. Aside from offering options to warm skin tones, this foundation provides intense coverage, matte finish, and long- lasting effect!

Ingredients

Innisfree My Foundation is a range of liquid foundations with apparently customizable coverage; formula ranges from matte, semi- matte, and glowy that let you choose the right moisture for your skin. Formula features moisturizing, soothing ingredients from Jeju Island. There are over 50 formulas that allow users to choose the finish and coverage they desire, and are designed for any skin tone and makeup preference.

My Foundation is a wide range of foundation and probably confusing to some; to decipher the benefits of the product, take note of the numbers and what they stand for.

The foundations have decimals inscribed in front of the bottle: The first number stands for the finish. The second number stands for the coverage.

Here are the categories for the first number:

1- matte

2- semi- matte

3- glowy

Finally, here are the categories for the second number:

1- natural coverage

2- medium coverage

5- high coverage

So my foundation, 1.5, is a matte (1), high coverage foundation (5). There are about 9- 10 shades per finish, but formula possibilities is around 50 because of the finish + coverage combination; so you have 1.1, 1.2, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 2.5, and so on.

The foundation comes in a frosted glass bottle with a smooth pump dispenser.

Chestnut is a deep beige shade with heavy yellow undertone. It's creamy and opaque that you only need a drop to get significant coverage. Finish is dewy matte in the beginning, but eventually sets into a true matte finish. It has a light floral scent.

Bare skin

Chestnut is a bit dark and too yellow for my skin tone; there's a shade prior this and it was actually my right shade, but it wasn't available in the Philippines when I purchased this.

The foundation gives a dewy effect and covers discolorations like a pro. Since it has a lot of moisturizing ingredients, the foundation looks effortlessly smooth, spreads easily, and feels hydrating on the skin. It has a tendency to feel heavy though because coverage is heavy so I love applying it using a thick foundation brush or a stippling brush.

And with just a bit of highlighter here, concealer there, and a powder that's a wee bit lighter than my skin tone and the shade is fixed! I love how it has unified my face with the rest of my body, making me look even more morena.

My Foundation's formula also features special ingredients that prevent it from oxidizing; I'm happy to report that it never oxidized on me. However, it may be a different case for those with acidic skin so it's best to try the products in store.

Staying power is pretty great; coverage lasts the whole day and my t-zone will get oily by the 4th or 5th hour. I love that it's full coverage, but the moisturizing properties gave it a hint of glow, thus it looks natural despite the coverage.

My Foundation is such a pleasant surprise; I'm pretty impressed with the concept (you can really feel that there's a difference in the texture and finish of the foundations so the customizable coverage promise is true) and most of all, the fact that a Korean brand has dared to offer deep shades to cater to warmer skin tones.
