I've recently entered the world of acids and THERE'S.NO.TURNING.BACK. The rave is true about acids: it's one of the best products you can put on your skin (but with great caution and knowledge!) because it promotes complete, gentle, and effective skin turnover, which results to great skin and lesser skin problems.
I'm using a lot of acids in my skin care lately and of my favorite forms is serum because since the formula is concentrated, effect is more dramatic and results are more immediate. Here are the ones I recommend!
1. PIXI GLOW TONIC SERUM
- The exfoliating serum that I'm currently using. Glycolic Acid is an AHA, or fruit and plant- derived acids. At 5% concentration, Pixi Glow Tonic serum is great for those who are starting with their acid journey and have light to medium discolorations to fix. The formula has moisturizing Aloe Vera to counteract the stinging and drying effect of Glycolic. It's a moisturizing, exfoliating serum!
2. DRUNK ELEPHANT TLC FRAMBOOS AHA/BHA SERUM
- A powerful serum that those with severe acne have been raving about. I bought the 30ml bottle to try. I've been using it as a spot treatment and HOLY MOLY, it immediately dries up zits and flattens cystic acne, and heals the latter completely in two days! I'll be using it as a regular serum when my face has finally adjusted to acids because this one has a pretty high concentration at 12%.
3. KIEHL'S NIGHTLY REFINING MICRO-PEEL CONCENTRATE
- This sustainable exfoliating serum makes use of the outer husks of Quinoa, which used to be discarded as farmers then had no use for it, until Kiehl's found a compound within the husks and used it as an active for this serum. Since it's plant- derived, I could say that this can be considered an AHA. This serum is gentle and has no stinging sensation and the gel, semi- matte formula is ideal for oily skin types.
4. THE ORDINARY LACTIC ACID 10% + HA
- The Ordinary's simple and clinically- proven ingredients brilliantly sold in retail had changed the face of skin care the last 2 years. It provides mild exfoliation and has a 5% version for those who are just beginning their skin care journey.
5. THE INKEY LIST ALPHA HYDROXY ACID
- A skin care newcomer, UK brand The Inkey List is slowly gaining popularity due to its single active products; a bit inspired by The Ordinary, but much simpler. Alpha Hydroxy Acid serum contains fruit- derived acids at 10% concentration to even out the skin tone.
What are your favorite exfoliating serums?

I haven’t tried any exfoliating serums. I definitely want to try it to improve my skin condition. I would love to try Pixi or Kiehl’s, I think they would suit my skin.
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with The Ordinary (I love their Caffeine! The only skincare that worked for my dark circles! Pricey but worth it.) and Kiehl's.
ReplyDeleteArgghh, the first four serums, I have heard about them already but the last one ,hindi pa. I 've been a fan of serums din po lalo kapag galing sa ref, ansarap ilagay sa muka after toning. Hehehe
