THE VERDICT:

Gesgep is one of the popular, high- end beauty brands in Korea and it was founded by the world- famous celebrity makeup artist duo, Son and Park; yes they're also the same guys behind the brand Son and Park and the famous Beauty Water.

Son and Park are very popular makeup artists in Korea; at one point, they did the faces of 2NE1 and Song Hye Kyo to name a few; the Korean "no makeup makeup look" is even attributed to them as according to sources, they popularized this signature K-Beauty look that took the world by storm.

Since it was established by makeup pros, Gesgep's products are designed to deliver professional finish and quality with the ease of everyday makeup. According to one interview with Son and Park, Park specifically mentioned that his favorite is Gesgep One Drop Perfection Healthy Foundation; he said that for them to achieve this specific formula was a feat in itself, therefore it remains his huge favorite.

I've been road- testing Gesgep One Drop Healthy Foundation lately and I think if you want a cross between Nars All Day Luminous Foundation and Marc Jacobs Re(Marc)able foundation, or basically a foundation that has intense coverage yet magically lightweight and hydrating feel, this will be right up your alley.

Gesgep One Drop Perfection Foundation is a full coverage foundation with a light, hydrating finish; it's intensely pigmented that it promises one drop is 'enough' to cover the skin. It has SPF 35 PA++ to keep the skin protected from UV rays.

Ingredients

The packaging is decent, simple, and classy; love the overall minimalist, natural look of Gesgep.

Consistency is smooth, emollient, and it's highly spreadable. It immediately soothes and hydrates skin, giving it a soft, plump look and feel.

In the hand swatch, I only got half a pump of product and it's showing its intense coverage already. It has a light floral scent that is pleasant.

The foundation only comes in one shade called HEALTHY; I suppose Gesgep intended this to be a foundation/corrector given the medium beige with yellow undertone shade.

Let's put it to the test:

Bare Face

In here, I applied two drops of One Drop Perfection Healthy Foundation; it is indeed pigmented, but surprisingly feels and looks very light (well, if you only apply one drop!).

Here's a close- up; check out how immaculate the texture of my skin has turned out after applying the foundation.

Finish is dewy matte and it sets fairly easily. The best way to apply this product is a kabuki brush to loosen up the pigments to minimize the very full look.

To be honest, I'm actually good with one drop if I'm only applying it on certain parts of my face or one and a half drops to cover my whole face if I'm going to an event; the pigmentation and coverage is pretty much like Marc Jacobs Remarcable foundation, except that Gesgep is much easier to blend, less prone to dryness, and doesn't cake on the corners of the face. The feel and finish is like Nars All Day Luminous foundation: hydrating, glides on like a dream, but this  product has better pigmentation. If you like both Nars's and Marc Jacobs' foundations, this is pretty much the best of both worlds. 

However, I just wish that there were more shade options, until I had this realization:

Methinks this foundation is designed to be applied on certain parts only, hence the single shade (this VIDEO BY GESGEP kinda' validated this theory of mine); if I'm going to use it again, I would probably use it more for spot coverage and no more than one or one and a half pumps because the shade is about 2 shades lighter than my skin tone and gets pretty obvious when worn. I was pretty shocked to learn that a pro brand is only offering one shade per foundation (the All Day Saver Foundation of Gesgep comes only in one shade too!), but I guess some people build beauty brands to share their techniques in the form of products while some create for market penetration and domination; this is probably Son and Park's foundation technique in a bottle.

Staying power is pretty good; my t-zone oils up after 4 hours while the rest of my face stays intact and looks fresh.

Overall, this is a pretty good foundation; perfect for almost any skin type including moderately oily skin. If you want a full coverage foundation that is economical, time- saving, long- wearing, and looks and feels like medium coverage foundation, Gesgep One Drop Perfection Healthy Foundation is probably great for you.
