Absolute New York capsule collection review: bringing professional quality to everyday makeup

A new beauty brand from the US has arrived in the Philippines this year and it's Absolute New York. It's been heavily featured by local beauty vloggers and I've always wondered if it's really good. Let's discover this brand today.

Absolute New York is a US-based beauty brand that specializes in trendy, professional makeup formulas and technologies adopted in everyday makeup; because the brand believes that everyone deserves to look good. If you're familiar with the ICON eyeshadow palettes, Absolute New York is the brand behind it.

I have here a couple of products from the brand to try out and review in this post.

These are some of the best- sellers of the brand. The price range starts at P299 and the most expensive is around P1,000+ for the eyeshadow palettes.

Ingredients

Absolute New York Flawless Foundation Primer (P599) is a clear primer that promises longer makeup wear and a smooth, diffused skin finish with Vitamins A, C, and E. Formula is Paraben- free.

The primer has a silicone texture, spreads easily, feels powdery matte, and doesn't make my face look and feel dry. I like how it smooths my skin in an instant and visibly. I like this because it makes my foundation finish look smoother. As for oil control, it's okay; about 3 hours before my skin oils up. Overall, this is more of a smoothing primer for textured skin.

Absolute New York Click Cover Concealer (Around P300) is a full- coverage concealer that promises to hug skin and cover imperfections.

The concealer has medium to full coverage; texture is slightly creamy; finish is soft matte and very natural- looking. It's the kind of full coverage for those with mild dark circles to deal with, but for those with heavy dark circles, this will come off as medium coverage only. Staying power is okay for everyday, but not necessarily waterproof; might not be apt for those with excessively oily skin.

Flawless HD Foundation ingredients

Absolute New York Flawless HD Foundation is a lightweight, water- based formula with light to medium coverage. It promises to even out the skin tone and provide second skin coverage that lasts the whole day.

Absolute New York HD Powder Foundation (P499) is a lightweight, buildable product that promises to retain skin's radiance by providing a natural, silky matte finish; the formula is a blend of emollients and finely- milled powder for a soft, flawless finish.

 Let's test out the HD Liquid foundation. Here's my bare face.

Here's one layer of the foundation. It's very light for my skin tone, unfortunately, but props to the lightweight feel and the good evening out effect on the skin. It can be a little streaky because of the water- based formula so I advice to use a traditional slim foundation brush or a painter's brush- type of foundation brush for optimum application.

Ingredients

Absolute New York Super Slim Eyebrow Pencil (P429) is a slim tip pencil for precise definition. 

Here's the product. It has a slim tip indeed; kinda' reminds me of the size of Anastasia Brow Whiz's brow pencil, but is it just as good?

The shade I got is Espresso. The product needs to be warmed up before usage. It feels pretty sturdy despite the size and pigmentation is medium to heavy.

The brow product is fairly easy to use and finish can be natural to dramatic. I also like the soft matte formula and finish; it isn't waxy and doesn't cling onto brow strands. Staying power is just right for everyday; if you have very oily skin, you may want to use a brow primer/clear brow mascara before usage to prolong staying power.

Ingredients

Absolute New York Chic Cheek Powder Blush is a sculpting/color duo that allows you to contour and color with just a blush; the palette features two complimenting blush shades in finely-milled pigments for a smooth, complexion- enhancing finish.

Peach Fuzz/Coral Gold is great for warm skin tones. Peach Fuzz is a light peach shade with gold shimmer; kinda' reminds me of Nars Orgasm, but this is more peachy. Coral Gold is a warm coral with gold shimmer.

Texture is nice and fine- the blushes are very easy to work on the skin. It is unscented. Pigmentation is medium to heavy. I just wish that one of the blushes came in a matte finish for a more dimensional look; both come in shimmer finish so there isn't a lot of ways to experiment with it.

Here's my look using a majority of the products. I layered a dark shade of foundation on top of Flawless HD Foundation to adjust it to my skin tone.

Overall, Absolute New York products are okay. Nothing mind- blowing, but it's nice to have a new option in the market. I guess I would have been more impressed if the bases fit my skin tone. But hey, at least the product is Paraben- free. The products that stood out for me are the primer and brow pencil.
