THE VERDICT:

Happy Skin's been around for 6 years now; I clearly remember how the brand started: it was a quaint blogger launch with just me and my fellow beauty bloggers and friends of Jacqe and Rissa, the girls behind the brand. 6 years, multiple celebrity collaborations, and tons of products later, Happy Skin has blossomed into one of the leading luxury Filipino brands catering to fans here and abroad.

All smart brands know that a little refresher is vital to progress that's why Happy Skin has revamped their look and added new products to the range, and launched together in the much- anticipated Holiday 2019 collection, their last (but not the least!) collection to end the year on a high note!

Happy Skin's new holiday collection is comprised of new shades of Shut Up and Kiss Me Lipsticks and the following new products: Color Play Multi-Use Mousse, Wonder Brow Eyebrow Pencil + Mascara, and Gloss Vibe Cooling Lip Gloss.

The new aesthetic of Happy Skin is really up my alley: warm, chic, and feminine. The subdued pastel shades playfully marry warmth and airiness, and the color combination is feminine, fun, and classy.

Color Play Multi-Use Mousse (P599) is a liquid mousse that can be used on the lips, cheeks, and lids. This feels more like a gel cream to me because of its fresh, bouncy texture and intense pigmentation and spreadability. Pigmentation is medium to heavy.

Wonder Brow Pencil + Mascara (P749) features an angled brow pencil for sculpting and shaping the brows while the tinted mascara provides hold and a bit of coverage to fill in with color. The pencil has a creamy texture and the mascara has a gel consistency and soft matte finish with light hold.

Gloss Vibes (P599) is a cooling lip gloss with that promises a non- sticky, glitter- free, high shine finish. It has natural mint extract to add a refreshing sensation to the lips and a bit of volume too.

Let's take the products out on a spin!

Bare brows

with Wonder Brow Pencil + Mascara

The pencil is pigmented and soft; it doesn't need to be warmed up, which makes it gentle to the brows, but I find it too creamy; I would have to comb my brows after applying and before applying a layer to even out the product. That said, it's best for those with thinner strands and brows. The mascara is decent: it provides light hold (but it can last the whole day) and just the right amount of tint to darken my brows further and fill in some gaps.

This brow duo has decent staying power, but it's not waterproof; those with oily skin may need to prep the brow area first before application.

Color Play Multi-Use Mousse in Peach Bum on my lids, cheeks, and lips

YOU GUYS. Happy Skin's Color Play Multi-Use Mousse is the bomb! It's no secret that I'm into tints, and the drunk blush and monotone looks lately that's why this product is right up my alley. 

It has a really nice consistency, the kind that is spreadable and can be worked whether on top or under powder much like Colourette's tints or SkinPotions Glam Pockets, but Happy Skin's Multi- Use Mousse has a more controllable pigmentation, looks just like second skin, and has a softer dewy matte finish versus the first two's super pigmented, matte look. Don't get me wrong, I love my Colourette and Skin Potions tints, but Happy Skin has created something that's perfect for days when you just want a softer drunk blush look, plus the shade Peach Bum is awesome too: warm coral peach that looks smashing on morena skin ton!

On the lids, I prime my lids with translucent powder before applying the mousse. On my lips, I use it regularly as I would liquid lipstick; it's great to use when creating ombre looks and it's non-drying as well.

Staying power for the mousse is good: it lasts 5 hours on my skin before it begins to fade; on very oily skin types, this may be less.

TBJ TIP: The best way to apply Color Play Multi-Use Mousse is to dot across the cheeks and switch between blending and dabbing to buff the product properly onto your skin.

Gloss Vibe in Glazed Donut

Another product that I liked from Happy Skin's new products is Gloss Vibe (surprisingly!). I'm not a gloss person, but this is one really good gloss! It's non- sticky, has a smooth, even finish, lightweight, pigmented, and thankfully, has no glitter so I can wear it during daytime and even in the office. It has moderate shine, thus it's something that I think can be worn to a meeting or work in case you don't feel like wearing lipstick. It has a minty feel, but not the type that is irritating or feels too 'spicy' that you want to take it off; the minty feel, aside from giving that fresh vibe, provides a little volume boost to the lips too!

The shade Glazed Donut is pretty too! It's a warm nude brown that's pretty universal and can be worn in all occasions.

This product needs to be retouched since it's gloss and has no staying power because of the formula, but what I like most about it is it's very light and my hair doesn't stick to my lips because it's more glass- like than sticky!

Shut Up and Kiss Me Lippie in Happy Hour is a new pretty neutral lipstick that you can add to your list: this toasty rose shade with a brown undertone is perfect for laid- back night outs with friends, family, or your special someone. This is my go- to shade for presentations and meetings as of late!
