There's nothing quite like acne to pull you down and keep you in low spirits; I've been battling breakouts from 2018 to 2019 and it really made be a bit depressed about my skin; I've tried so many products and switched to various routines in high hopes of finding a remedy; my trusted anti- acne skin care brands weren't working, some were new products and they have worked but only for a certain period, and the rest did not work at all.

Let me tell you about one of my most favorite acid- based skin care products and a must- have for people suffering from hormonal or adult onset mild to moderate acne!

Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Serum is a blend of AHA and BHA plus soothing plant actives and Raspberry extract that exfoliate without dryness and sensitization, giving skin a soft and smooth feel and clarity; formula also has Horse Chestnut extract, Bearberry, and White Tea that calm and soothe the skin while improving the appearance of broken capillaries. It comes in two sizes: 30ml and 50ml.

Drunk Elephant's pops of color on the packaging are totally adorable; TLC Framboos comes in a lightweight, matte plastic bottle with a twist-top dispenser; I like this configuration because I don't have to worry about lost dispenser caps as the pump goes right inside the tube securely at a simple twist.

What exactly is Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Serum? What is it for? How do you use it?

What is it exactly? It's a serum, but the exfoliating type; it only yields micro exfoliation so no obvious peeling and downtime required; it's a clear gel that is virtually unscented and the wonderful formula gets absorbed very quickly so you can sleep right away after application.

This serum has 12% acid concentration so if you're an acid newbie, best to use it as a spot treatment first for your skin to adjust to the tingling sensation properly, but first and foremost, make sure you are cleared to use acid in high concentrations.

What is it for? This acid- based serum is for decongesting pores and loosening up stubborn dead skin cells to help skin turnover and renew properly; this is why this product is ideal for aging skin.

How do you use it? I have started by using it as a spot treatment for my skin to adjust and for me to know if I can stand it; boy, it did sting! But the stinging sensation lasted for only about a minute or two. 

Before using this serum on my entire face, I have eased myself into acids by using skin care with lower acid concentration first. After a week, my skin has finally adjusted to the formula. Happy to know that it is not drying on the skin and works well with any moisturizer.

This is my skin 12 months into my acne breakout; lots of cystic acne, whiteheads, and dark spots.

And here's my skin now after only two months of using TLC Framboos serum; it looks so good now, I WANNA CRY! Here's the same side of my face now looking better after using the serum religiously.

Here's how I use the product in detail:

1. I cleanse my face, of course.

2. I take a small amount and apply it starting on my cheeks or any non-sensitive, thick part so it won't hurt as much in case it stings. When my skin has adjusted, I apply all over.

3. I let it dry fully for about 5- 10 minutes.

4. I seal it with a moisturizer

Clearer skin with TLC Framboos!

I mentioned that Pixi's Glow Tonic range has helped end my acne breakout; it did and I'm very happy with that range, but when I have introduced TLC Framboos into my routine, my skin healed much faster and it addressed cystic acne, which the Glow Tonic range cannot heal at times.

My face right now looks much clearer, feels much softer, looks more even, looks much smoother, and thankfully, experiences less breakouts.

TLC Framboos is such a game changer and I am so happy I tried it despite the hefty price tag. This product is best for aging skin, acne- prone skin, seasonal and hormonal acne, and rough skin.

BUT---please exercise caution before using high acid concentrations; if you are pregnant and have skin conditions, consult with your doctor first prior usage. Wear sunscreen during daytime religiously as well because acids make your skin prone to sunburns.
