Why Is MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation Popular Among Filipinas?

I've had a random chat with a friend and when we have started talking about makeup, one of the most interesting questions that was brought up is:

WHY IS MAC STUDIO FIX POWDER FOUNDATION POPULAR AMONG FILIPINAS?

Call it a mad stroke of luck or whatever, but MAC's cult powder foundation is arguably the most popular luxury powder product in the Philippines and you can't help but wonder why; don't tell me you haven't met a gal who told you that MAC SF (Studio Fix) is on her makeup wish list or asked "Maganda ba MAC Studio Fix powder?" (Is MAC Studio Fix powder nice?). 

In my years of lurking in beauty forums, I have observed that it's one of the most recommended powder products in online forums; it's also sort of a status symbol as it immediately catapults you to the top of the food chain in the female's bathroom when you whip out that sleek, matte black compact from your makeup pouch and everyone finds out it's MAC. 

I still have a lot of stories that prove the cult status of MAC Studio Fix powder foundation, but my simple point is: DIZ THING IS DAMN POPULAR.

I have pondered about this and have thought of four probable reasons why MAC Studio Fix remains as the most recommended and the most popular luxury powder foundation product among many Filipinas.

For the uninitiated, MAC Studio Fix is a range of complexion products; there's a liquid foundation, concealers, and powders; Studio Fix Powder Foundation is just a part of it.

Here's what I think are the reasons why this product is the most popular in the Studio Fix range:

- Before vloggers, bloggers, and influencers, Make Up Artists were the first influencers of consumers and they all loved MAC. I've had my fair share of make up artists recommending MAC cosmetics to me, specifically Studio Fix powder foundation whenever I'm being made up; since they're makeup professionals, a lot have trusted their recommendations (including me); word of mouth type of marketing such as this is proven to generate great conversion and it led to the rise of MAC and Studio Fix powder foundation because it is 'the recommended brand of makeup pros'.

I think if there are people MAC Cosmetics should be grateful for and support, it would be makeup artists!

2. IT IS AN ASPIRATIONAL BRAND

- I have an observation; if Filipinas are going to buy their first- ever luxury bag, Louis Vuitton tops the bill; if it's makeup, it's MAC Cosmetics.

MAC Cosmetics has been around for years in the Philippines and it's one of the first luxury makeup brands to open locally that's why most Filipinas, when they think of pricey makeup, MAC is most likely the first to come to mind.

With the advantage of time, MAC was able to establish itself as a trusted luxe makeup brand locally; the brand tapped into celebrity marketing early on and enjoyed the privilege of heavy promotion since market competition then was moderate and it gained the interest and affection of many Filipinas overtime through tons of reviews and recommendations; all of which led to MAC Cosmetics as an aspirational brand for many Filipinas.

Just like toting around a Louis Vuitton purse, I believe a lot of Filipinas think that using luxury makeup such as MAC Cosmetics elevates their status, thus making them feel good and gives them a sense of pride; this is why when Filipinas have enough money, were able to save, or had an increase in salary, when it comes to makeup, MAC is always at the top of the list, most especially Studio Fix powder foundation!

3. WE ARE A POWDER- LOVING NATION

- Just because we live in a very humid country and oily skin is our majority skin type. A lot of Asian countries with tropical climates prefer powder more than liquid because no one wants to look like a hot mess under the sweltering weather and most of all, no one wants clogged skin and pimples, which can be caused by occlusive makeup such as liquid foundation.

4. EVERYONE'S JUST USING IT!

- MAC Studio Fix powder foundation is pretty much a ubiquitous product; and when you see that a lot of people are using it, you want to join the club too!
