This is not the first time Uniqlo has collaborated with French fashion designer, Ines De la Fressange; in the first run, I have heard someone say that her designs are "too tita", but I beg to differ; her designs are timeless and universal; and if it's indeed deemed tita by the majority; then I say it's the coolest tita collection I have ever seen!
For her second collaboration with Uniqlo, Ines De la Fressange explores the roaring 20's, a region in France, and the quintessential French woman style; Ines handpicked what's truly stylish and enduring from these themes, and came up with a fashion collection that is elegant, essential, functional, and timeless whatever the style, age, and lifestyle, and most of all, undeniably French.
Ines De la Fressange Spring/Summer collection for 2020 is a 54- piece collection that features dresses, outerwear, sportswear, and fashion accessories that are categorized in the following curated sets:
Paris: Timeless Sports Styling
- Paris once held the summer olympics in 1924 and it produced some of the most attractive sportswear styling fashion has seen. This inspired set features Tilden knitwear, pullovers, jackets, and sweaters that can be stylishly paired or used either in warm and cool seasons.
Gardians: French Cowboy Clothing
- Gardians means "cowboys" in French in Arles, France. Ines adored this region and visited it frequently; the masculine, black and white style of the locals and the sunlight- washed region that's brimming with trees and flowers have mostly inspired the clothing set.
Muses: Dresses for relaxing outdoors
- The dress is the quintessential French piece of clothing for women because not only did it define almost every French woman's wardrobe, it was also a political piece that signalled a newfound freedom when French women were finally allowed to wear what they wanted in the 1920s. More than a fashion signature, it was a sign of progress.
Here are my picks from this collection:
The dresses, of course! Chic and flirty at the same time, functional and fashionable all at once! I love me a good, easy-to-wear dress, most especially if it's light and travel- friendly. I will definitely pick up some of these before my big trip this year.
Jacket-Blazer hybrid inspired by 1920s French sportswear. There's something so Chanel tweed jacket with these and I am definitely picking up one because I love Chanel's tweed jackets, but it's just too expensive for me!
Frilly, airy tops that will surely amp up your top + jeans daily combo.
Boxy tops that will look great with slacks or pencil skirts.
Ines Dela Fressange X Uniqlo Spring Summer 2020 Collection is now available in all Uniqlo stores. 1924 themed collection (sportswear inspired) will only be available at the flagship store in Glorietta 5.
