THE VERDICT:
I've seen a status that's been going around Facebook suggesting that when all of this is over, we should let the Bayanihan spirit continue by helping local businesses bounce back; we should support and buy from local businesses to restart the economy. I agree with the idea because this will create cash flow as fast as possible, which will help a lot of businesses get back on their feet and re-employ those who lost their jobs.
Here's one local beauty brand that I'd like for you to take note of and consider supporting: Fltr Beauty. I'm currently loving their makeup line and I'll share my thoughts and favorites below!
Fltr Beauty is a relatively new Filipino beauty brand started by one of the avid readers of The Beauty Junkee (yay!). A beauty brand inspired by social media and driven by their mission to create "beauty filters for real life", Fltr Beauty's products are charmingly named after popular online terms, contemporary looks, and the trendiest shades, making it the perfect choice for those who are into the latest beauty looks; they're cruelty- free too!
Currently, Fltr Beauty has the following beauty products:
Blush and Go Multiuse Color Pot ingredients |
A multipurpose cream color with shea butter, grapeseed oil, and almond oil for a moisturizing payoff.
In Full Bloom Lip and Cheek Stain and Champagne Dreams Highlighter ingredients |
The Lip and Cheek Stain is pigmented and formulated with hydrating Aloe Vera for a dewy look and feel.
Champagne Dreams Highlighter is a liquid illuminator with a water- based formula and micro shimmer for easy application and a more natural- looking finish.
Mattemaker Soft Matte Cream Stain ingredients |
A pigmented cream-liquid lipstick with apparently a long- lasting finish.
In Full Bloom Lip and Cheek Stain (P135) has a unique gel consistency; I actually like the formula because I can control the product more during application and tbh, it's much easier to spread and even out on the skin compared to watery stains; it's very pigmented and stains my fingers a whole lot, unfortunately. Staying power is pretty good on the cheeks; on the lips, it stays on until you eat.
Blush and Go Multiuse Color Pot (P145) is a cream cheek color, but can be used on the lips and lids as well. It's very pigmented, but buildable and has a nice fruity scent. Finish is blurred matte. Staying power is good with minimal fading at the end of the day, but it has to be set with a matte powder for it to stay put.
Champagne Dreams Liquid Highlighter (P225), even if water- based, isn't patchy and hard to spread on the skin, thanks to silicone ingredients that give the product that slip for easier blending; it does not have oil that may cause skin clogging on oily skin types, although if you are allergic to silicone, you may break out.
Mattemaker Soft Matte Cream Stain (P175) is a very pigmented liquid lipstick with a velvety matte finish; surprisingly, the formula isn't drying! Finish is soft matte, a little goes a long way, but it takes a while to set; the brand claims that formula is long- lasting, but unfortunately, I did not have that experience: I'd have to retouch my lips completely after a meal and I'd get transfers on straws and mugs when drinking, when I blot my lips, or when I gently rub a finger on top of the lipstick.
Here's me wearing all the products in different ways!
BLUSH AND GO MULTIUSE COLOR POT IN AMAZE
- Amaze is described as a brick red shade. It's more of a terracotta shade on me and it's the most pigmented among the three and also the most flattering on me.
BLUSH AND GO MULTIUSE COLOR POT IN RIDIC
- Ridic is described as a terracotta peach, warm nude; it's more of warm nude and doesn't appear that much on my warm skin tone.
BLUSH AND GO MULTIUSE COLOR POT IN WANT
- Want is described as a raspberry pink shade, but it's more of a pastel pink shade on me; it's too cool for my skin tone and I think this will look best on fair and medium skin tones.
I'm wearing Amaze on my lids and cheeks here. I love this color so much because it compliments my skin tone very well and color is so much on trend. Did I mention also that this product applies beautifully even on top of powdered skin?
IN FULL BLOOM LIP AND CHEEK STAIN IN FOMO
- FOMO is described as a wine red shade; I find the description to be pretty accurate as it comes off as a deep wine red shade on my skin tone. I'm wearing FOMO on my lips, btw.
IN FULL BLOOM LIP AND CHEEK STAIN IN TBH
- TBH is described as a rich berry shade; it's pretty similar to FOMO, but this one has more pink to it; I'm wearing TBH on my lips, but I find that this particular shade settles in the lines of my lips.
I'm wearing TBH on my cheeks here and the raspberry pink shade appears more prominent on the cheeks than on the lips.
MATTEMAKER SOFT MATTE CREAM STAIN IN SNATCHED
- Snatched is described as a nude rose and I find the description pretty accurate too. It's a nice MLBB shade for everyday and a good nude for warm and dark skin tones.
MATTEMAKER SOFT MATTE CREAM STAIN IN GOALS
- Goals is described as a ruby red shade; I like the deep ruby red shade! Reminds me of MAC's Russian Red with a hint of Viva Glam 1.
CHAMPAGNE DREAMS HIGHLIGHTER IN WARM
- Warm has light gold microshimmer; good for warm skin tones. I like applying the liquid highlighter on the highest points of my face namely the tip of my nose and brow area; not really on the planes of my cheeks because I have observed that it's best applied and blended on the small parts of my face only since it's not cream/oil-based. On the bright side, it looks very natural, like a touch of light on the skin, and it can be applied on top of powdered skin too; it can last the whole day if set properly with a matte translucent powder.
Overall, Fltr Beauty's products have good quality and they're so affordable! Love the shades, the simple, ergonomic packaging, clean design, and the variety of products offered despite being a new brand. My personal favorites are Multiuse Color Pot in Amaze, Mattemaker Soft Matte Cream Stain in Goals, and In Full Bloom lip and cheek stain in FOMO.
